More than 4 planes in Quick Missions ?

After reading the latest developments I noticed that AI now can well handle more airplanes, and the graphics speed improvements probably help too.

Would it be possible in the next update to have the possibility to select up to 12 planes ?

More.... more.... MORE! We want more! :o:

Well, honestly it wouldn't be hard to code, expanding QMB to 4-6 flights per side.

It would provide ppl with an easy way to stress-test their system.

I would like to see more groundtargets, 4 of every single groundunit that exist ingame for excample.

And pls, make the tanks drive on roads or at least move to a location and turn back, these square like drive pattern might be more of a challenge but its not realistic and for me unwanted.

To be frank I have seen no real solid argument regarding the limitation of the total number of planes in the game.

COD does much better with 50+ planes, that are well designed and detailed.  IL2 1946 or Pacific Fighters etc did much better albeit being graphically simpler.

I have a rig with CPU I7 6 Core (4 GHz per core) with 32 GB of quad channel very fast ram, an Asus Strix GTX 1080 graphic system. I run all this at ultra max settings on 4K and it does not loose a beat in the most crowded situations. I am absolutely sure that such a system can handle a larger number of AI, planes, ground units and graphics load.

Everybody out there do not have such powerful rigs, this is why there should be a setting allowing for enlarged number of animated objects for those who wants to.

There could be a limitation however due to coding and software issues or due to the 3D engine used.  But there has been no clear position from Devs on this subject (sorry if I missed it).

Conclusion I still wonder why?

-snip-

Cliffs and 1946 use very simplified flight models for AI. BOX uses player-grade FMs that require more IOPS.

In any case, I hardly see the need to keep the limit to 4x4 aircraft in QMB. Even low end systems can handle way more AIs than that now.

I don't disagree with that, I was merely trying to provide a rational explanation.

I would like to see something of 1946 flavor where I can set 4 flights of 4 per side.

Why even set the limit there. It could just as well be 16 flights per side, for a whooping 128 plane maximum. The perfect stress test for a high-end system. Just put in a warning once you go past 10 flights total.

Yes I would love the QMB to be more customiseable. To be able to set up larger flights or more flights. have more than two ships or one train.

On the note of the AI optimisation and now being able to handle a lot more planes in the air and on the ground...

Wasn't this the main road block for four engine bombers? I mean it would take tons of time to create a big bomber but I think if they got started on a B-17 now, it could be ready as a collector plane by the time Midway is released? I mean that is a good $50 worth of plane on its own. I know all of us American fanbois of Memphis Belle and 12 oclock high would shell out for it as soon as they announce the preorder.

I'd be willing to bet that QMB changes are at this moment somewhere on their very long 'to do' list.
