Sorry guys, another small question about CloD: what is the last Team Fusion patch available? On ATAG forum I see only the 4.00 in the download section, but here you talk about 4.01 and 4.02. Ok, the 4.02 is just the draft read me, but the 4.01? Is it yet avaible?

Thanks!

Last released patch was 4.00.

Intially a hotfix was being made called 4.01 but TF quickly realised that too much was going to the new patch. It no longer was only a hotfix patch but a completely new patch so the decision was taken to change the name of the upcoming patch from 4.01 to 4.2! ;)

Hope this clears the confusion ;)

Now all is clear, thanks alot for the fast and clear answer!

If everything goes according to plan (keeping my fingers crossed) TF 4.2 will be released next Friday.

To be able to install it you first need to have Cliffs patched to TF 4.0. Just saying if you have not already done so. :)

Next Friday is shaping up to be great for flightsims lovers :). We will get multiplayer in BoS and new patch for Clod . It's a long weekend where I live thanks to Paddy's Day , so I will have plenty of time to fly. Happy days.

Indeed, I am not much on multiplayer though - at least yet - but I am on single player campaigns, some of which  I have already downloaded and just waiting for 4.20 to begin. Can't wait!

I am so excited about TF 4.20, especially after today's update and checking out the early draft of the readme for it.

That screenshot is absolutely gorgeous, I  have been waiting very patiently for this update, now even more so.

I do hope it does make release next weekend, if so I know what I will be doing all weekend!

This +1 ~S~

The latest patch info has piqued my interest.

More importantly are the online missions much different than they used to? I see Gruber has been making some for the ATAG server which is what made me reinstall..

I long to see larger formations of bombers and aerial battles between groups of fighters taking place over them. The older missions last year tended to have small bomber formations on each side flying in a form of bomber ping pong.

I fly online campaign missions with 30 plus fighters a side and 40 plus aI bombers regularly. New patch is now designated 4.3 BTW, because theres a lot more in it... ;)

Among others Gruber made some great missions - with "Fall Rot" being my favourite. Had some wonderful sorties yesterday evening with very persistent (human) Blenheim pilots and some well-organized red escort. Though, at about 2 am I had to skip the mission and to go to bed.

About big AI bomber formations: There was a London raid mission with German bomber formations of up to 30 planes. But as it seemed that that many AI planes come to the costs of less human-controlled planes, it is more or less common sense among mission builders to avoid big AI formations. Personally, I favour this decision. Also as there is much more and better organized human bomber pilots than there were a year ago.

I would expect it to be even more bomber pilots with Team Fusion patch 4.3 fixing some issues with the gunners. Can't wait to see the gunners of our bomber formations in action. Apart from making it easier for the escort the more effective gunners (AI or human controlled) will be another good reason to fly together in formation.

Are those missions being hosted on ATAG? What about the campaign missions...who deals with that? SOW used to but their forum seems a bit quiet and the last campaign was last year.

I know what you mean about the size of the AI formations, personally I think a single larger (around 20 for example) one would concentrate more of the air fighting in the same place and give that BOB feel but maybe that is what has already been done with some of these new misions, I don't know how it works but in teh past we've had 3 separate formations of 6-9 flying round on the map...does it make a difference if they're all in the same place?

Anyway my shiny new 780 GTX just turned up so time to switch off and install the beast :D

After the "Italian Battle of Britain" campaign there was a break for three, four months. But Storm of War just started with its new "Mega Battle of Britain" campaign last Sunday.

The first mission was great fun - even though we (blue) did not manage to destroy all enemy targets. Quite some fierce red resistance during the four(!) hour mission.

Well, we get another chance this Sunday to speed up the fall of France and to move on to England.

You need to download all three patches released by TF.

Once you have installed the game and updated to the last official patch(done automatically by steam) you need to install first TF3.00 and then TF3.01 and the TF4.00 in this order.

Please follow the instructions on the ATAG website very carefully as if you dont it will not work.

The ATAG site is full of people asking how to install the patches or people asking why it is not working. 100% of them did not follow the important steps how to do it.

There are a couple of videos over there how to do it properly making it almost impossible to fail. ;)

Will there be a version of TF that patches from last official patch straight to TF4.3?

It'd save some time and some headaches.

You are not the only one who would like an all-in-one patch.

To my knowledge TF tries(!) to make such a full download available for TF 5.0. Quite sure that we will not see it for the close-by (tomorrow?) TF 4.3.

Spent the last couple of days messing round with CLOD especially after replacing my 580 GTX with a much beefier 780 GTX (the downside to having a high res monitor was having to make so many graphics sacrifices with what was a very high end card at the time).

I have to say I am very impressed with it. Extended clouds and all the bells and whistles make the sim look fantastic. FM is superb as well.

Mostly been flying off line with the Spit since I've pretty much only ever flown the 109, 190 and 110 in my entire sim career and fancy a bit of a change :D

Based on the recommendations on this thread, I tried out IL2 CLOD Team Fusion mod version 4.0 last Saturday. I am greatly impressed by the improvements that Team Fusion made with IL2 CLOD. I would definitely recommend, at least, three flight sims to potential and current flight sim players. I would recommend Rise of Flight, IL2 Battle of Stalingrad, and Il2 CLOD. (with Team Fusion mod) The only downside I can see in any of these sims is that they are super awesome and in the coming months I will only have enough time on the weekends to play one of these sims, out of utterly beautiful, enjoyable, and brilliant three.

I recorded some of my gameplay experience with IL2 CLOD, here:

Good flight mate!

And better than the flight was the Amélie invite!

Clod is indeed shaping up to its potential. I loved the damage modeling, landscape, and attention to detail from day 1.  Team fusion is doing a great job ironing out the imperfections in the flight model and smoothing out the frame rate. I think CLOD is going to end up with the same longevity as the original IL2.

.... I think CLOD is going to end up with the same longevity as the original IL2.

For that it would need much more planes and theatres, imho.

Posted

And a much more meaningful SP compartment.

Posted

According to Team Fusion a whole new theatre with new flyable planes, improvements to AI and radio commands will be added to TF 5.0 (probably not before end of this year).

As long as there is TF, to me CloD has a bright future. Though, everything takes a bit longer compared to a professional, profit-oriented developer team.

I certainly agree with the positive comments about CLoD with TF 4.01. Wonderful graphics and force feedback really works! I could fly around in it marveling in the scenery for hours...but...what are these campaigns you speak of? Are they Single Player campaigns? I have not done much since setting up the TF 4.01 patch except for a number of the single missions...but those do get a bit monotonous. I thought there were two SP campaigns...one for the British (which was a bit lame) and one for the German...

Anyway...CLoD with Team Fusion is very, very good.

Very strong investigation, thoughtfulness, and implementation of updates from Team Fusion. They have certainly done this community a good turn, no matter your sim of choice, and I believe that we will only see more and better fixes from these passionate folks. It is a great sim in many ways, and the flaws that it has are slowly being eliminated. TF4.3 is a huge leap towards that goal.

I just can't deal with the lack of proper AA. Else I'd probably be playing it.

Yes, I just said that.

There is FXAA. And that has basically been possible since post-processing AA techniques have been made available for everyone (think of the first injectors...).

And, being among such techniques, FXAA can not be compared to MSAA.

So, let's be honest: FXAA being there now doesn't really mean anything. And everyone can (or, at least, should) see it.

No it's not FXAA, in fact now you must turn off FXAA on the NVidia profiler and simply ensure you have AA ingame active, at the moment it doesn't let you select levels of AA just simply make sure the setting is not off.
