P-40 comes in at 1:50. This was a Planes of Fame video but their music was a little.....funkie. Mines better  ;)

BOS, BOM, DCS and my favourite COD (I get emotional over Spitfires), what an exciting time for us. All boys desert action with the P40, dangerous carrier and convoy flying with the Marlet, Faith, Hope and Charity for the safe delivery of Patch 5. Rock on TF & thx.

Btw Chuck, lovely manuals mate, I like the extras about the history and mechanics, but I'm still staying away from the over boost on the Spit.

The 108 shot down 2 Mosquitos in the film 633 Squadron, so using your logic it is a perfectly reasonable reason to do its cockpit for CloD...period..

I can't find any info on any bf 108 armament. As in they had none that I can find. Not against the 108 just wanting a source.

I think coherence would be a more pressing issue in his posts.

"No German aircraft of the right type were available; consequently Messerschmitt Bf 108 aircraft were used to represent the Messerschmitt Bf 109. Bergman's original escape from Norway is in a Miles Messenger."

He was making a joke (I think) about the movie 633 Squadron.

None of that is the point, really... BSR doesn't contribute anything to Cliffs or TF (including even flying the sim...) and the importance of his input in what should/shouldn't be or what is/isn't productive is about as deep as that.

That's like me spending months criticizing BOS without having purchased it... Without having flown more than that which would equate to having a superficial look at the project. A lot of people seem to take the stance that if you see deep underlying issues in the game design, the continuity of the project or the "simulator" aspect of its modeling it's because you haven't flown the sim or you are not flying it...

He can be as contrarian as he wants, just as I can be... But at least I'm actually flying the things I criticize.  :coffee:

My favorite IL-2 1946 movie of all time. Lots of P-40s and F4s

Yeah I just hope the textures on the final product are better than the ones in that screenshot... We shall see.

If you are referring to the shot of the Carrier in the post above, that model was just a testbed for carrier work, minus most of the weapons etc.... look at some of the other official updates for ship releases (like the Tribal Class Destroyer) to see the quality for final textures and components.

In any case, we are not guaranteeing a Carrier for TF 5.0.

The Wellington is for me the most important addition and a Beufighter. This will make the RAF as powerful as the Luftwaffe. The P-40 well that is a added bonus, it just might make me a RAF fighter pilot now and then.

It is truly a great achievement done by TF, I salute you guys for keeping a good sim alive together with ATAG

Exciting but they do set a high bar for "paid" development teams.

Am really excited about the development and what TF is able to do for "free".

I would love to see a big fix on the ground handling. The 109 is somewhat porked on the ground.

Don't know if it's porked, but taxiing the 109 sure is difficult!

Ground handling is perfectly fine (maybe even a little "arcade-y") and considerably more acceptable than what BOS is doing where all control surfaces and all engine settings contribute little or nothing to authority on the ground (inb4 ice on da runways!!@! Not...).

What doesn't work is the tailwheel lock. The swaying experienced in the 109 is entirely due to the fact that the lock doesn't work.

Aside from that... Have you tried the K-4 in DCS? Till you try to fly a 109 in that simulator you have no idea how delicate that slim-track landing gear is.

Not sure what you're saying there...

The landing gear on the K-4 were relatively unchanged from that of the B-1...

EDIT: And I also wasn't trying to have a jab at you... I was just explaining that a lot of the poor ground behavior in Cliffs is having a non-functional tailwheel lock.

Anyone know if TF have managed to fix the FFB in clod yet?

Never had a FFB stick and I don't know what nature the problem with FFB in CloD is either, but I know that this thread exists. Maybe it can help you?

/edit

After actually reading the thread, nope, doesn't look like FFB works particularly well with CloD even with the tweaking.

It works fine according  to a squad m8

Unfortunately not but you never know.  FFB still works fine - when its working - but low speed manoeuvre's are still... er, exciting.  Especially take off! :o:

Thanks guys, sounds the same as last I've tried. For me it didn't feel like the stick was connected to the plane the same way that it feels in DCS/BOS/ROF, some kind of input lag between the game & the stick output, hard to describe. The effects also disappeared from time to time and force trim didn't work either. Hopefully they can improve it in the future.   :joy:

109E did not have a tail lock.

109E did not have a tail lock.

Are you absolutely sure about that? I remember reading something about the tail lock in the original bf109e-manual?

EDIT: Just checked back, looks like I was wrong...

Find a real 109 E cockpit and see if it has the lever

There it is
