I'm not sure what you are talking about.

Did I suggest that you stop flying BoS and leave the forum?  If so, that's exactly what I have done with CoD.  Feel free to follow my lead.

I think we can see the agenda here. Lock a thread a out Cliffs of Dover.

Best to carry on and comment on the updates rather than the opinions of those who don't like the fact that people have to learn modelling and have fun doing it?

Basically it's like criticising a student who starts at Primary School for learning 2+2=4 and saying they she be concentrating on quadratic simultaneous algebraic equations with no knowledge of how 2+2=4 works.

You wont convert their opinions, so don't worry about it. Everyone else can enjoy the fruits of our labour for free and have fun with them ;)

BSR, thanks for your input :)

Sorry but you are more likely to get the thread locked when you start claiming "agendas"

Oh Robin, you're really a funny one.

Anyway, the forum's ignore function is a wonderful thing and getting this thread locked won't help anyone.

/edit

Which is exactly what MysticPuma wrote directly above me, oops.

Good morning everybody, have I mentioned I just woke up?

I think we can see the agenda here.

My agenda is that people not make dumb decisions.  That's why I was against the unlockables in BoS.  Putting resources into the 108 is almost as dumb as unlockables.

Well good news. I found the ignore feature works :)

And now to concentrate on "Cliffs of Dover now very good" :)

I'll mention the 108.  What a ridiculous waste of effort...

I'm sure the 2 guys who take advantage of that will really appreciate it.

But it's still a ridiculous waste of resources.

I'm not writing complete nonsense (it probably helps if you read what I actually posted, and not what you'd like to believe that I posted), and I don't really give a crap what you think of my judgment.  There are plenty of other AI aircraft in CoD that could be made flyable that actually saw combat.  The decision to make the 108 flyable makes no sense at all.  Period.

Dumb decisions made at no charge are still dumb decisions.  And I removed CoD from my PC, so I don't plan to thank them for anything.

I'm actually not feeling entitled to anything, since I removed the game from my PC.

None of which changes the fact that it's an obviously stupid decision.

Those 12 aircraft probably saw more combat than all the 108s combined.

Considering all the complaining you have done about BoS design decisions, your TF boot-licking is a little surprising.

Just kidding, it's not surprising at all...

I'm pretty sure I'm still allowed to comment on it.

All of these posts are unnecessarily combative and really.. since you have stated yourself in this thread that you do not have CoD on your hard drive it is even more antagonistic. While it is true that you do have the right to comment.. you do not have the right to derail this thread with your comments. If you cannot control yourself and just let the thread roll without the disruptive comments then perhaps it would be better if you just did not post in it. This thread exists for folks to talk about CoD and it's ongoing development... If you cannot contribute to it then just stay out of it. If you insist on this tact.. your posts will be removed from view.

Fun times is what it's gonna be.

I'm looking forward to some cross-channel, English mainland navigation practice.

EDIT: May be useful for reconnaissance in ACG's future campaigns as well... Ohhh, the possibilities.

Thanks MP and the rest of the TF team for your continued dedication!  :salute:

Copied from a post yesterday from the TF Leadership:

<<<Everything we do is subject to the demands of real life and everyone needs to remember the key phrase: "Sh*t Happens".

There are NO deadlines and NO Guarantees.

What we have announced to this point which SHOULD be flyable for TF 5.0 is as follows:

Wellington IA

P-40E

F4f-3/Martlet

Bf-108 Taifun

Tiger Moth with guns and bombs

Blenheim IV with wing bombs added, plus twin Browning rear turret

Bf-109E-7 and E-7NZ

Bf-109F... no details on exact model(s) have yet been released

Spitfire(s) comparable era as 109E-7 and F no details on exact models released yet

Hurricane(s) comparable era as 109E-7 and F no details on exact models released yet

What we have announced we are working on as well... whether they are ready or not for TF 5.0... difficult to say.

Beaufighter IF/IC

Fiat CR-42

Gloster Gladiator

plus several other aircraft which we haven't mentioned.

There are also quite a number of ships and vehicles, some of which are complete, some in progress, some have been seen in updates some not.

And of course, the map(s)... Which we are not saying anything about >>>

Thank you TF, for ALL that you do!!!

The flight sim community is very lucky, to have a team of dedicated Cliffs of Dover enthusiast to do all of this work for us, the community, at the expense of your time, and provide it at no cost to us.

Hmmm P-40.. now that will say something to me... because there is no P-40 at all in CoD correct?

The Martlet interests me. I'll be eager to try it. That, and the Taifun. I've always loved the 108.

OK.. well.. not that I had nothing but props for the TF team based on what they did with CoD.. but this is a game changer for me as far as me more actively flying CoD and at least being more optimistic about the apparent  three legged stool of WWII sims that is in the making. For me the limited scope of CoD was always a drawback and I always said that I will look at CoD in a different light when they come up with something like new content that is not in the sim.. not a variant of already present content.. This goes a long way to bolstering my impression of the future of CoD as something that will be around for a long time and actually grow..

Posted (edited)

I think that has been one of the issues with the modding community not jumping across from IL2 1946

Hopefully seeing that we really are creating new content (let's not forget shipping, submarines, vehicles and more) and having the tools to do it, may help strengthen the modding community who will be interested in helping TF bring even more content to the future releases :)

Glad you like it BC, I'm sure other US favourites will be added once we clear the decks of v5.00 (as-well as other countries of-course!)

Imho it is important having modding community under one flag.

The best future is one team (fusion) with more and more modders in, to speed up the update process.

Indeed MP it's looking real good .... but then I've been there from the start when I plopped down my original  $60 dollars at BestBuy.

Check out Storm of War, large scale online "events" with a persistent element and so much more.

Thursdays and Sunday's evening with more days to come, enjoy large scale human bomber and fighter squadrons with raf fighters defending, with the help of human ground controllers.

Bearcat, regarding the addition of new aircraft and not just variants, did you see this image from a recent TF update? This will be available in v5.00 too so the American market (as-well as other countries) will have another aircraft to play with, especially with the .50-cals (can't wait for the porked threads to start!).

Lots going on, should be fun for the community when we get it out and into the community, cheers, MP

Well you know I won't be happy till I get my Mustang... but the other side to that coin is... with the advent of the CUP.. IL2 will be reaching the end of it's lifespan.. not the end of it's use mind you.. Personally I think folks will be flying IL2 for at least the next 5 years.. but it is reaching a point where it is such a totally complete package that there really won't be too much that is not covered in it.. As it is now you can go from WWI to Desert Storm.. and all in a pretty decent manner.. not as nice as RoF, DCS,CoD,BOS in many ways.. but decent enough to still be very enjoyable.. so as far as modders go.. CoD will be the next obvious landing spot.. and with DCS and IL22 still in development the future looks bright as far as options go.

I wonder if there will be a ship to land the Martlet on?

Wouldn't that be great.......I remember practising carrier landings by dropping a buffalo on a short strip before Pacific Fighters...

Yeah I just hope the textures on the final product are better than the ones in that screenshot... We shall see.

The picture is just an example of what is possible. TF would never release anything with low textures ;)

One day Bearcat we have our P51D20 again ;)

Like the good old days of Il2 on Warclouds :)

there were many 108s, you know...

...transporting VIPs all over the place. Yay.

Above all else, be sure to go back to licking 777's boots. The Defense League has probably missed your absence in the time that you were commenting in threads that didn't pertain to you.

The 108 shot down 2 Mosquitos in the film 633 Squadron, so using your logic it is a perfectly reasonable reason to do its cockpit for CloD...period..

They're from a post in 2013. I'd say it's a safe bet they have been worked on further since then.

 Yeah well based on the P-40 model alone I guess I should have surmised that...
