IF you have older hardware like 2-3 generations than I might suggest 280xfire, they have 3gb of  384bit ram and you can get 2 for a total of about $320

GTX980 VS 280X CF (over clocking the stock 280 will bring %99 of the way to X performance.)

deal? looks good but i know nothing about the brand. 39 inch 4K for $339

I looked at this Seiki.  I think it doesn't support HDMI 2.0 so 4k res only at 30Hz.  However, they are apparently going to release a 40" HDMI 2.0 monitor soon:

Or a display port 1.2 can do it.

Look at the cockpit details the reflection of the pilot on the instruments

As you probably know, look at the response time also. Stay far from anything above 10 ms

Here's a video of last Wednesday's high-alt scrap over Manston, courtesy of the Storm of War server. This is a weekly event folks, along side the more established Sunday one! Come along and throw yourself back into 1940. :salute:

I really need to play this again. Hate using steam though to run it. Great videos.

Apologies if this was already dealt with but on the subject of clod, can someone please tell me their flightfx settings? Specifically what directory to override with flightfx? Been searching for an answer for months. Right now I get an error trying to use it. Thank you in advance.

Hi Beazil!

Look at the ATAG-Forum, I'm sure you can find all settings that you need there!

Beazil, there's a dll that you need to temporarily rename in the flightfx folder just before you "tick" the box in flightfx that confirms you want to use it with cliffs. Once you ticked the box and had no error - go back and rename it back so that the program can find it. I believe it's Dx9 something dll. It'll work then.

As for the actual settings - I use SMAA, curves, gamma and sharpening and vibrance. No need to go overboard with the curves and gamma, I just like it a bit brighter so I can see better against dark backgrounds.

I'm hoping you guys can help

I've got IL2 1946 and the original copy I got was Ubisoft, which demanded I install from the original disc, I see COD on Amazon for about £10 but I don't know what version etc:

So a couple of questions

Do I just buy the CD from Amazon or the like?

Is there somewhere like M4 Today for IL2 1946 for COd or is the setup different.

If I need to use a CD guess I'll need to buy a DVD for the desktop as I've got away without having one up until now

Is there somewhere out there dedicated to COD that can give me the low down on it all?

Any other advice appreciated

Monument,

The only things that you need to install CloD is:

Steam installed and logged in.

CloD CD key - that can be bought include in DVD format.

But don't use the DVD to install - the version is old (2011) - leave Steam download a updated for the last MG patch (12-2013). After install Team Fusion MOD patchs.

For additional SP contend, look at: http://airwarfare.com/sow/index.php/downloads

And, the right place for CloD support is: http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/forum.php

BTW - The key for less than  £10:http://store.steampowered.com/app/63950/

Good luck.

Thanks for that Sokol

So is the update only available via Steam? I'm not a Steam fan and try to steer clear of it

What I was really looking for was a way to get it and update it without involving Steam.

One other question can CoD support multi HID or only the one. My rudder pedals don't integrate with the the Thrustmaster Stick and throttle I have as they are from another vendor & that makes a big difference to me when playing

Many Thanks for the useful info already

Cliffs is connected to steam, you will have to use it. It will provide you the last official version of the game an on top of that you will have to install the Team Fusion Patches. Its all doable :-)

It supports multiple controllers. I have 2 Saitek products and a Thrustmaster Stick connected to it without problems. Or what exactly do you mean with multi HID?

From the desk of the MysticPumma ......

Over the last few weeks we have all had a step back from the modding and are currently deciding on a roadmap so that we can get v5.00 out in a realistic timescale while also not impacting on our private lives as much. This isn't a message of "we closing down", it's a message of "we are working out how best to get v5.00 to while not giving the impression that we aren't progressing forward, while also taking into account that we all (in TF) need to keep this as a hobby rather than it becoming a chore". The thing is, once burnout sets in, this no longer becomes a fun hobby, it becomes a chore and when it becomes a chore, there is no fun and it starts to be a millstone. So to keep it 'fun' for TF, we have had an extended break and are now working out the best route to keep it fun, while also completing v5.00 for the benefit of the community.

Behind TF doors work has continued, maybe at a slower pace than normal, but that is for the above reasons....we need to make it enjoyable for us to do and if we lose key members due to burnout, this doesn't only impact on us, it really impacts on the community. So, forgive us for taking an extended break...we are human and we have 'real lives' and for that reason, we are now working out a best way forward to delivering the huge content we have been creating.....but also in a reasonable timescale so that the community doesn't start t fear the worse, that maybe TF is over and done big%20smile.gif

As it stands at the moment, we are just as committed to getting v5.00 out....but we honestly (even with seeing what is being done) can't ive you a date...yet big%20smile.gif

So look, that's not much of a fun update, but it's important that we explain that we are just hobbyists like you with a passion for Flight Sims (WW2 combat ones at-least) and we do want to get this mod out as soon as we can, but we also need time for our own real life work and family.

Okay, so with that understood, work has been continuing big%20smile.gif

Currently TF are working on probably the most anticipated feature (by most of us at-least) and that is the Auto-Updater. It may not seem like much, but this feature will revolutionise our workflow as we will be able to release small updates regularly rather than huge (2-3Gb) updates slowly. The actual logistics of how patches/updates will be released is still in discussion, but once we do get the AU working and released, it will allow us to release (for example) a single aircraft at a time, a cockpit update, a landscape update, etc, etc.

For example, we currently have a rewrite of the English landscape at near RC standard....but.....without the AU, we will have to wait until it is compiled into the huge v5.00 update. However, if we can get the AU finished and released, this feature could be released on it's own without the need for all the other features to be ready. There is a lot of work that we have completed (and a LOT of we work we don't) but if we can get the AU finished and working, it's a possibility that smaller updates could be released, building up to the new theatre for v5.00.

All I can say is, we are working on it....just real life commitments have to take priority.

Okay, so finally to hopefully keep a little enthusiasm going here's a short video showing a little FM testing going on (DM testing is not shown but the power of the bullets is likely to be the subject of revision). This model is intended to have a new cockpit built as and when we get time. Please note, all footage shown in all the videos I post are WiP. It doesn't mean they will be released in the next patch, it means they are WiP and as such subject to much revision and are shown just so you know we aren't sitting idly on our hands big%20smile.gif

Thanks again for your understanding about our taking breaks, here's the video, cheers, MP/TF

That was a very moving, beautifully done video! You can be proud of it and - from what I have read about him - JT Dawg surely would be as well.

Of course, there is no good way to lead over to another topic, so I will not even try. Here is a short video of XVII_Dietrich from a big raid on RAF Brooklands last Sunday:

Today, we remember the passing of our friend JT Dawg. He was a pillar of the flight sim community and he will be dearly missed.

Chuck... Seriously... Thank you for that.

Very powerful.  :cray:

When a friend and I casually picked up CloD a couple of years back, JT was one of our first greeters when we got on the ATAG TS for the very first time. JT helped us get started with the sim, helped us get off the ground in our Spits (before I learned to love the 109) and helped me, personally, build my interest in the genre from that point on.

I did not know JT well, but he will be missed by many.
