Very good. The real life forest certainly appears darker than the wip however. Hopefully they look into that

Indeed but on the pictures above the trees in the forrest are not fully green yet and hence look much darker as you also not only see the wood and branches but also see the ground underneath... just wanted to add that.. ;)

It is a good video. It was posted here a few months back. It inspired me to pick up clod again for a while. But after I visited their website and saw the way they conduct themselves it really put me off.

So Team Fusion didn't conduct themselves right? You do know thats who has been doing the patches/mod right?

And if you feel so strong about a game because of the way people on forums conduct themselves why are you still here? Or did Zaks post last week fall into proper conduct?

Posted

I was talking about behavior I saw on the ACG website, not Team Fusion.

Perhaps you mean Han's comments last week, not Zak? I think you'll find those were a result of the same bile that so discouraged me.

How exactly?  We have zero rules,  we don't moderate our forums, we let people say what they want.  Our members aren't chained down to a policy and told off for posting their feelings - they have a say in how everything is run. Our website is full of helpful historical data, instruction and videos,  plus we run a very popular campaign every week based on history.  Over 100 active members in one 'squadron' flying COD, DCS and BOS.......sounds a terrible place.....

I find it quite weird actually that you would put down a very good and almost free to play sim just because one group, which you have nothing to do with, have a forum where some comments are posted about BOS which don't agree with your own opinion.  In fact this is actually an open forum where anybody can talk about BOS and many non-members have done so about the game.  You are free to say whatever you like without fear of post deletions, thread locks and bans,  unlike here actually.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Still,  I'm delighted that you enjoyed the video so at least that's some consolation.

OK I'm only kidding with you ;) You guys do a great job keeping CloD going and run a great server. Respect.

Wrong forum and wrong group completely Prangster.

This is the "Cliffs now very good" thread and nothing to do with other peoples forums where they can do as they wish.

If anyone wants to be daft enough to open a thread about other peoples forum's then fine - but please - not here.

This.

Also, I love the tutorial videos on the ACG website.

You are correct. Here you cannot say whatever you like. Here there is moderation.  If that is an issue for you then I don't know what to tell you. Well ...I do know what to tell you.. but I won't.. because you have the right to be here too... you just can't say what you want however you want. CoD is a forum for an abandoned product... ATAG is a forum run by it's own members .. with member support.. so they can run it how they want. This forum is part of a business entity... and must be conducted as such.

I do wonder how free and liberal the ATAG forum would be if say members from here went over there in the BoS section.. and just routinely slagged CoD with backhanded comments and innuendo... I also think that that would be just as silly ... and wrong.... as it is here when it is done here.

Posted (edited)

Hang on a minute,  ACG and ATAG are different, there's confusion here so I'm going to clear that up for you all.

I am the founder of Air Combat Group, that is ACG.  Our website is http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk and our forums http://www.aircombatgroup.co.uk/forum

ACG members are tagged by the following squadrons and staffel,  No.64, No.501, No.615, No.32, No.111, No.610, 4./JG26, 5./JG26, 6./JG26, 7./JG26, 8./JG26,9./JG26 and last but not least 6./ZG76.  We are a bloody big group and we are dedicated to the historical aspect of combat flight.

What Bearcat and some others are referring to is ATAG, the Air Tactical Assault Group and their founder is ATAG_Bliss (formerly a Syndicate member).  Their website is http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/ and their forums are http://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum.  They also host the forums for Team Fusion.  Their members are all tagged ATAG_

ACG and ATAG are not related in any way, if you have any issues with ATAG then do not point to ACG.

@No601_Prankster.  What you posted is nothing to do with ACG,  this is the ATAG forums and bans and locks are as commonplace as here.  I've been banned a couple of times on the ATAG forums myself. I have a decent relationship with Tangmere Pilots, and the RDF which your group uses in your COD missions was written by ACG and given to Tom.  I hope you are enjoying that feature :)  Use the links above to find our website and forums are you'll see that they are different.  Also, I suspect you are also referring to the ATAG server,  that's not ours.  We run the +++ Air Combat Group +++ server and I actually think it'll be much more to the tastes of a Tangmere Pilot given that we use historical missions converted from our campaign,  that is big formations on targets of the day,  actually missions with an outcome.  Being a Brit, you'll find that the ping is a big improvement too.  You should grab your lads and jump in ours instead tbh.

post-634-0-84981800-1414007571.jpg

Apologies to Bearcat for the sidetrack on this thread which is about COD being "actually very good" but since even a moderator has the wrong end of the stick in this case then I need to set the record straight.

Enjoy the video and if anybody wants help in COD then please join our forums or Teamspeak.  We also do a lot of DCS, we run a server, and we have a lot of guys who are quite knowledgeable in this too.  You are welcome to come into our TS and fly with them.

Oh nice, Mystic! That opens some new options :) Long way to go, but maybe a Co-Op GUI for that later on in TF patches?

Posted

Ok I bought it when it was on sale on steam some time ago and I pretty much hated it from the first moment.

Not only the slideshow feeling but clunkiness and etc, even with graphics turned all the way down

and yes team fusion mods. I learned how to coldstart ju-88 before I gave it up, I wanted to learn

but when you start something up and it doesnt even feel slightly funny you give up.

Now, times later and a new computer(Alienware), I decided to install it again, downloaded Teamfusion

and WOW, just WOW! It runs so....smooth?! I can look around with traickIr, no problem, no slideshow,

not even im multiplayer. Graphics is on medium, I dont dare touch em now. So I learned how to coldstart

and take off in Ju-87, now Im gonna learn more about navigation.

Holy cow, am I glad I gave this sim a second chance, its a win-win situation, now I have an

winter eastern-front sim in BOS and a summer western-front sim Clod and I love em both.

I guess all thanks should go to Team Fusion for their work. Amazing!

@Sturmnoob.. Crank your graphic settings all the way up. Should still run smooth. Whatever magic TF did it's smooth at the highest settings and can run 100 player servers without frame rates being impacted. For large MP experience there's nothing better right now. Hopefully BOS will get close to those numbers in the future.

hehe ok I will fibble around the graphics settings although I might say, it doesnt look bad on medium too.

A bit intimidated about MP though, I havent even reached the shores of england yet, server last night finished

mission when I got into the air. Right now, Im just familiarizing myself with the whole ordeal.

Yeah, good bit of work TF is.

The original texture setting in CloD is ridiculous, the textures are huge!!!!

High setting should look great and take less memory (and does not affect airplane textures).

I have been trying to get TF to work for quite a while, but not luck.  When I try to install the 3.00 patch (or any of them) it just complains that the installation folder doesn't contain an instance of CLOD (it does, and the integrity check passes)

Instead of the all-in-one ZIP file maybe I need to download individually.

That is what I did.

I downloaded each individual file. I believe they have a link toward the top of the forum directing one to them. Yep just checked, the link is titled " Team Fusion Mod". Click on it, and it will open links to each individual download.

I then ran each file.

After installing each individual file, I launched Cliffs of Dover.

Once see all is well and that Cliffs runs,, exited Cliffs, deleted all of the contents of the cache file in the Cliffs of Dover Mod directory under my documents.

Installed the next file, rinse and repeat.

I believe their plans are to have a working auto update type thing once they get TF5 out, but no promises there.

It is well worth the effort to get it installed and up to TF 4.312. It truly is a thing of beauty, and runs very well.

Edit: Also, I believe some have reported issues when unzipping some of the files with WinZip, they recommend using 7Zip - that is what I used without any problems.

I've recently started flying with CLoD again using the TF updates... it really is a great and different game to what I was originally flying months ago :)

I had no trouble installing the TF mods. My system didn't run it well so I uninstalled it again straightaway, but I do want to see some BOB era 109s again.

And green. Green would be nice.

Okay, another try. Some recent posts here sound like it's even more optimised.Maybe my PC has manned up a bit when I wasn't looking.

If you can run BoS you should be able to run CoD on your machine FSM

This mod looks awesome!

Do you think i could play the mod with this set up?

AMD FX-8350 8 core clocked @ 4.0Ghz, possibly going to be overclocked to 4.5-4.8
8GB off DDR3 ram clocked @ 1333Mhz
AMD R9 270 2GB of DDR5 ram

My current setup, simply wont even run Clod.

Well the maps and textures are the only thing I am disappointed with in cod, With the improved light and shadows this game has to offer the map should be able to be better than IL2 1946. And it simply is not. Modded maps with new textures in IL2 is far better than COD an BOS.

But that update is a improvement

Was it generally low FPS or was it stuttering? There are some possible fixes for the latter.

At atag site there are a lot of tips on how to optimize the graphics deleting some stuff and tweak the system, I fly it now without any stuttering. I find BOS and COD a excellent mix.

If you can run BOS you should be able to run Clod with TF mod.

In my case with an E8200 (dual core) 4gb ram and gtx260 i can´t run BOS (i can but if there are more tha 3 or 4 planes around it turns in to a slide show) but i can run ClOD very smooth

Got Cliffs Of Dover running just fine under Windows 10 Technical Preview. Very smooth experience and no oddities in menus, at all. Just had to run Troubleshooter for the Launcher.exe and apply the DPI fix suggested(related to corrupted or otherwise not OK image).
