I've been wondering for a while if we have on forums any fans of survival fantasy games like DayZ, Subnautica, Rust or even This War of Mine. Today/Yesterday was launched Conan Exiles, produced by Funcom (also known by some as Failcom), those guys are responsible for games like Age of Conan, The Secret World or Anarchy online - mmo rpg games. The new title is their attempt to bring some life to the brand and so far it seems well executed:

I'm personally a big fan of Conan lore, have been collecting Robert E. Howard books for quite a few years and they were one of the best readings of this kind.

Anyone here is interested in that kind of games possibly ?

I have enjoyed Empyrion-Galactic Survival: SF rather than fantasy based, also an early access, but developing fast.

However, that has very good SP content: I am not buying any more games where the SP is just a poorly thought out trailer/trainer for what is mainly designed as an MMO - cough BoS, cough....

Will keep an eye on this one: if I can play as Zula. ;)

When it comes to storytelling it seems to me that Funcom is a good company at that, both The Secret World and Age of Conan had interesting stories to tell and it was well executed. They failed at other things but this time seems that game is well developed. Also element that enhances everything is this Conan brand, a lot of the fantasy world is already developed and they can use it to make the feeling deeper.

The Conan world is indeed a good one - read all the books when I was a teenager. I have been looking for that perfect barbarian Princess ever since. :)

Oh yeah, nudity was a normal thing in Age of Conan and actually that went well. With brutal world and dark lore it went well as an mmo for more mature players than candy looking World of Warcraft or others. However this stuff, well, I guess its realistic ? I'm not sure what comment would be appropriate ...

Bought it when it released but I haven't played much of it.

I really enjoy survival games like ark, rust, etc. thats the main reason I bought Conan.

I'm just waiting for a survival game set in the American Frontier and that has animal animation and behavior like The Hunter Call of the Wild.

Yep got it. I was thinking more along the lines of it being set in the early-mid 1800s kind of around the time of Lewis and Clark.

You head west and explore the land, encounter indians, Bison, Bears, and all sorts of wildlife and hazards all while trying to survive and build a life in the frontier.
