Great video (sorry i love the voice im not being rude but its like the perfect stereo type of an american soldier voice hahaha :D )

Anyways flight planner you can change the 300kph in the options when you make the flight can enter any speed from like 1 to 100,000,000kph
when you click the last leg of the flight to complete it (origin) it will ask for flight name and speed.

Regarding the compass tho..
They did have that display in ww2 (just a normal compass) is the same as the normal compass in the cockpit just 2ft to your right its only closer and a digital version as we cant just easily lean over and look at other most of the player base dont have track ir..
It wont be any different when mods come and people using a gauge API to have all gauges running on another laptop or screen next to them
so on map screen can still watch attitude indicator and fly while in map screen.

06:41.. Option E (Use the built in radio homing. NDB beacon) to get home it works on most planes (bombers)
and was available from 1939 onwards. (little ndb need in cockpit points to nearest AF)

Thanks for making this very helpful video. :salute:

BTW in IL-2 Mission Planner you can change the speed on any leg of a completed flight plan by simply left clicking on the information bar on that leg. The time to fly the leg will be updated.

Many thanks HvB. I have (not yet) watched the full video but I have bookmarked this page as a very very helpful source. Also enjoyed your sense of humor and overall presentation. I know this will be very helpful to pilots like me. The not lazy way of navigation was always on my to do list and now I have some additional aid and tools to achieve my goal. :salute:

You beat me to it! This was going to be my next video.

Good effort. CuriousGambler's flight planning tool is a game changer, and as already pointed out, you can adjust the airspeed to suit your aircraft type, and even allow for climb and descents. Before I discovered it I was actually putting my protractor on my monitor screen and measuring angles and then using my pilot 'wiz wheel' to calculate leg times! Once you get good at estimating your groundsppeeds, using this app you can get your navigation to military flying standard (+/- 30 seconds) time on target.

Good job.

Make the video anyway! The more perspectives, the better - - -
