Knolly Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Hi all, I have been a big fan of the il2 series since forgotten battles and have recently just got BOM after a pc upgrade. I was wondering if it is possible to have custom difficulty settings in the campaign such as expert settings but with externals enabled? Also in the original il2 you could select an aircraft number and squadron on the default skins is this possible now? Thanks
Finkeren Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 No and no. Though with the new career mode coming this summer I very much hope we will have fully costumizable difficulty settings.
Dutchvdm Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 The scripted campaigns like "Ten days of Autumn" do have full customization for realism. Grt M

Dakpilot Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 You can do it but the 'other way around' select Normal' and turn off 'helpers' until you have the realism setting you want, same result but approaching from different side In 'Normal' setting you can disable all helper options to make it 'Expert', just not in 'name' As far as skins, the way BoS deals with them in the game engine is different, so the original IL-2 feature is not available at present or likely to change in the near future, there are advantages and disadvantages to both methods Cheers Dakpilot
Yogiflight Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 The only disadvantage of what Dakpilot wrote, is that you won't get the double points for 'Expert' setting, but it is the only possibility to fly like expert, but have the external vision, at the moment.
Finkeren Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 But then again, the only thing points are good for in SP anymore is progressing through the campaign, so in reality playing on normal just makes it last longer.
Knolly Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 Thanks for the information, I'm sure i'll have more questions to come.

Well to be fair I think that problem is worst on the original BoS campaign on the two newer campaigns it's only Hell on Earth every other mission.
unreasonable Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Well to be fair I think that problem is worst on the original BoS campaign on the two newer campaigns it's only Hell on Earth every other mission. TBH I would not know, I went "on strike" against BoX campaign mode months ago given the team's (at that time) mulish refusal to let us play SP the way we wish to play rather than according to some Central Planning Committee's five year plan. Now that is all changing I am back in the saddle, but playing the scripted campaigns. Never used to like them in Il-2 46, partly because there were too many air starts, which I hate - prefer the foreplay of taking off and climbing before the climax of combat - and also because poor dial-up made downloading required skins etc a chore. Now I have nearly finished Juri's Yak campaign then plan to give the Mig one a whirl. Actually I recommend Juri's "Ivan's War" to the OP: the mission progression is nicely paced and none of them are too gimmicky, it is an excellent way to learn to fly the Yak. I am hoping the others are as much fun too. Edited January 27, 2017 by unreasonable
Stig Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 prefer the foreplay of taking off and climbing before the climax of combat So it lasts a more than 2 minutes, right?
