It is sad to think of the numbers of excellent aircraft that the government sold for scrap or shoved into ditches and burned.

 

yes, the piles of postwar perfectly flyable aircraft that were cut and melted is one of the most painful things I've ever seen 

 

I am not bothered by that so much, as there was thousands of them!

 

What bothers me is almose none was kept for history, even those that where slated for preservation where destroyed (ie XB-15, XB-19).
