=2/33=Pluton Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Hello pilots ! I'm pretty new to this sim (and to the plane simulation by the way). I've discover Il2 almost a year ago, and now I have to say I'm a little bit addict and fan to this game Anyway, I wanted to add my contribution here, so I'm glad to share (with love) the first steps of the Yak-1 Ser.69's template. This aircraft was the first one I "learn" to pilot, and we had such a good mements together ^^. I've convert pannels and Rivets to 4k, as well as the layer named "airplane parts". In this layer particulary, I've re-drawn som parts when I've feel it nessessary, or just apply a sharpen filter when I thinked it was ok like this. Things i still have to do : - some corrections on the gun panel, there is something weird with how the line panel fit to the model (see pictures).- a basic camo- the paint chips and weathering- the apha chanel- and the stencils (I particulary need the help of the community on this point, because I can't read the very small's stencil's due to the 2k resolution (and the cyrilic alphabet witch is not my language), and it's really hard to find the real stencils on the web with a good resolution, and some explainations of witch sencils is supposed to fit to witch part, etc..) Close-up pictures of the real yak 1 are quite hard to find on the web (I found a lots af yak1b or others) so if you have that in your library, I would be glad to see them. Also, aviation is not my first language (but I'm designer IRL) , and mistakes are obviously possible, so I'm open to criticism, in order to make this skin as beautiful and accurate as possible I'll try to make some updates soon, but I'm really busy with my job those days, so it's possible that things comes slowly. Hope you enjoy it ! Greetings ! Ps. Sorry for my english 3
DD_Arthur Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 S! Pluton and welcome to the BoS forums. Thank you very much for your work on the Yak template. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Nothing wrong with your English either! 1
=2/33=Pluton Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 Hi everybody ! Slowly but surely, Here is some new pictures of my work on the yak 1. It's still WIP, and I continue little step by little step, beacause really busy with my job. I'm still open to critisism. I've also worked on the alpha layer and bump maps, witch are WIP as well. I will make a list of the new stuffs i did on the plane when I'll release it. Also, I have a problem when exporting the D3D file. When I check my plane in the viewer or in the game, the plane always look blander, a bit brighter, whith less contrast than the original. However, I use exacly the same colors as the original template. Do you, skinners, have the same problem ? If yes, I will just cheat a little bit with the color, in order to have the same contrast as the original. Or mayby I missed something when exporting with Nvidia stuff. For info, I use Photoshop CS6. Here is some pictures with all layers activated : and this one is bonus Cheers ! 4
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) Looks great so far. Maybe a bit too scratchy on the wing surface but other than that the weathering is impressive. Edited February 16, 2017 by 6./ZG26_5tuka
ICDP Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) One thing I just noticed is that some of the weathering around texture mapping joins do not match. Usually on the nose and wing leading edges is where it's worse. The gun smoke dirt on the nose is an example, it's not easy to match those up. I know it's a WiP, so orgive me if you are already aware of that issue and are working on it. The thing with templates is that the creator gives people choice. You will get people stating the panel lines look too dark etc but that can be changed by them when they get the template. It's easy to forget and think you are looking at a final skin rather than a template Edited February 16, 2017 by ICDP
=2/33=Pluton Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 Yes, indeed those joins are very tricky to make match . In any case I want to work on it in order to erase at maximum those delimitations between differents parts of the plane. And don't worry, you're perfecly right to tell me how to enhance this template At the end, I would like to deliver a template that people can easily use by defaut, or modify if they want to. So if the panel lines are a bit too darks, I can make them less pronounced, in order to deliver a template as close as possible to a final and historic skin looking. Anyway, thanks for your advise, it's very usefull
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Looking forward to the final. Thanks for the work.
=2/33=Pluton Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 Hi there ! Finally I've found some time and energy to work on the yak 1 ser.69 4k template. Here are some pictures of the thing. Thanks to IDCP, I've been able to put the stencils on the plane. Unfortunelly, some of them are still missing, and I can't find a good source to implement theme. I've improved the rivets a bit, and tried to correct the matching of texture in the wings joints, engine exhaust, etc... There still a bit to do to make this as perfect as possible. I've also re-done some new weather effects like wear and tears on wings, heavy wood chips, etc... I've add a color filter above all my layers in order to make the color a bit more satured and contrasted. When I will realease the template, free to you to use it or not, as for all the weather effects. I've also finished (I think) the 4k bump map. I will realease it in the same time as the template. Here are some pictures, I hope you'll like it. Cheers ! PS. No reshade on those pictures. Bonus one : 1
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Thanks for the update, looking forward to this one.
YoYo Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Any news? Did You finish it before „Blazing Steppe” campaign?
=WH=PangolinWranglin Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 (edited) http://gph.is/11tcemt It's the gif of the guy slamming the table saying "WANT WANT WANT" etc. I don't know how to embed a gif Edited June 5, 2017 by =DF=PangolinWranglin
