Need help converting mission from SP to MP

Hi everyone

I 'm trying to create a scenario for an upcoming video. I took a mission from Haashasin's  "Albert's Life" single player campaign and added a formation of Ju-88s in it. It's quite a large formation, consisting of 18 Ju-88s. My PC seems to handle it without problem. Waypoints for the formation are all set to high priority so the AI will strictly fly from WP1 to WP2.

What I 'd like to do is convert this template for Multiplayer. I would need to set spawn points at the big airbase surrounded by the river close to Moscow (marked with the location airfield icon "Airbase 1") and also I would need an airstart at about 3000m altitude nearby. Since this is not meant for actual multiplayer fights but rather for recording videos with my squadron, I don't mind the sides. I 'd like the airfield and airstart to allow for all the aircraft in game, and for the mission to allow icons and all external cameras, spectate all the aircraft.

I don't have in depth knowledge of mission making. From what I understand, most of the items of the mission are linked to the player's aircraft, named Albert. His spawning triggers most of these. How could this mission turn into multiplayer? Doing major editing is not an option, since it is very complex. Could there be a simpler way, like turning "Albert" into AI, therefore allowing every object to spawn and then just including an airfield and airstart?

I have uploaded the mission template. Running the mission will move the camera to Moscow, and if you spawn as Albert you will get a warning area message, don't mind all that.

The Ju-88 formation can be seen by clicking on the mission list: ju-88 formation 4--->planes---->Ju-88s--->set group as working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1- You have to set the mission as a dogfight mission.

  • Clik on the title of the mission in the left column. You should have a Mission properties windows which is display. That is the one which is open by default when you load the mission.
  • In Mission Type, change Single to Deathmatch.
  • Save AS in the Dogfight directory which is in Data/Multiplayer/Dogfight

2- In the button on the right, use the button Airfields. select Fakefield or fakefield_rnwspawn.

3- Place you airfield where you want that players spawn.

4- Use the button Create Linked Entity on the Airfield properties.

5- In Orientation set the orientation where you want that plane fly when they spawn.

6- Define what kind of plane and altitude

  • On the airfield Properties
  • Click on the button Planes
  • Click on Add
  • In Model, select what plane you want.
  • In name you can give it a name (it's not an obligation).
  • Set the altitude where you want the plane spawn in Altitude
  • Instead of On Parking, select In Air
  • You can set unlimited if you want unlimited planes.
  • Do Ok once
  •  Do Ok one more time.

Many thanks Habu.

I 'll follow your advice. My question is will the AI formation of ju-88s still be flying the designated path on multiplayer? Or do I have to make additional changes besides setting airfield spawn positions?

There is an option "cooperative start" on each Ju-88. Do I have to tick it?

cheers

Ai are independant from airfield in the air. They are not link to airfield.

If your AI group has waypoint, it's works in multiplayer. For Ai, there are no difference between solo or multiplayer.
