machtu Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Why is the ammo load for the yak 127 so light. I see a combined mg/cannon load out at 360 rounds when the 69 version has 1620 rounds. You have to be really sparing with your shots in the 127. The bubble canopy is very nice.
ShamrockOneFive Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 The Yak 1 Series 69 does come with more ammo but that is for the ShKAS 7.62mm light machine guns in the upper decking. They are firing much smaller rounds than the 12.7mm UBS in the Yak-1B so there is less fire duration and a smaller ammo count but the single heavy machine gun and cannon are putting out a greater weight of fire than the twin light machine guns and single cannon. Its an improvement to be sure but it does mean that you'll have to really watch the ammo load and use your guns sparingly!
Finkeren Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 It's pretty standard for VVS fighters, and it's more than adequate to deal with any German fighter. Mid-late war Soviet fighters usually had total firing time of 10-15 seconds.
dhillr Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Yeah but it delivers greater punch over German planes. You'll see a wing tear off in dogfights even more often.
