lantirn Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) I have noticed when in campaign I dont see other air activity from other missions which is somewhat strange. I saw once a friendly formation flying but i am not sure about it. Are in the campaign the other packages visible? Meaning is this the normal density of the operations? Or you see only the associated red-blue missions in the sky? One final question, is the campaign dynamic related to the outcome and the required missions? I see the same missions again and again in slightly different places in the same geographical positions. I am flying from Marinovka a Yak1, expert mode, alternating the available missions every time. (intercept, escort, ground support, ground attack) Edited January 21, 2017 by lantirn
Picchio Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) Other red/blue packages might be present, but I don't understand what you're asking precisely about their density. Historical or simulated? And: the campaign is not dynamic; at the moment, it's basically a refined single mission generator. If you're looking for something more close to resembling a pilot's career, you should check PWCG. It's got its own section: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/99-pwcg-bos/ Personally, I think there still isn't a good balance between what the "default" campaign mission generator can do and the missions generated by PWCG. Ideally, they are complementary. But they're not integrated, so you have to choose what you prefer. Edited January 21, 2017 by Picchio

lantirn Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 PWCG is something that I see for first time and I understand that it is an "addon" campaign alike? I will take a further look at it, thank you! No I dont ask historically, just simulated. I dont know how "dense" the air was back then. I am just asking if this is normal or bug in my setup. The only offline experience in campaign was about 12-13 years back when I was using Falcon 4.0 which I can remember that the sky was really dense in the Korea theater. Nevertheless, I am just discovering the campaign and the simulator. I use it more like a familiarization before I step on the online world!
Finkeren Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 If you want to fly a proper career, I recommend PWCG. However, I don't recognize your assertion, that you never see any other air activity in the campaign. Quite the opposite. Virtually every mission I fly have both allied and enemy flights cross my path near every waypoint, and my airfield is under attack when I come in for landing very often.
Picchio Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 For understanding what PWCG is and does, you'll find all the useful information in the section I linked. As for the simulated density of air units in the default campaign, I don't think it's a bug in your setup: the number of aircraft generated is kept low in order to save performance. In the current campaign there are more and varied ground units than in PWCG (mainly because of patches, I think, so it's just a matter of time before PWCG includes them as well) but they're kept very close to the player's planned route. PWCG alters this aspect heavily (and you can further modify it, but don't expect the game to perform well, no matter how good your hardware is - there are currently many performance restrictions as AI aircraft use the same flight model as the player).
lantirn Posted January 21, 2017 Author Posted January 21, 2017 Picchio got it. Will give a try for sure! Finkeren, I flew about 15 missions and didnt see what you describe! But thats maybe I am about on the middle of the first chapter!
ShamrockOneFive Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Yep, I see friendly aircraft outside of my own on nearly every mission. Mind you sometimes they aren't really visible for more than a few moments (crossing paths at high speeds, or flying at different altitudes) but yeah they are definitely out there. The more wild missions for me are when two missions "collide" and you have aircraft flying all over the place and near utter chaos. I actually used to not like seeing other aircraft flying around because of the CPU hit but with a new system and the enhancements they have been making... it's working like a charm now.
