5 Italian themed JU52s all based on 5kukas excellent 4K template.

Ala Littoria I-BALI in a pre war silver

Ala Littoria I-BALI in a later Ivory paintcheme

Ala Littoria I-BIZI Late 1940 after requisition by the Regia Aeronautica - 3 tone camo

SM81 inspired skin Prewar

SM81 inspired skin Ethiopia 1936 with hi-visibility red and white wings to assist in rescue should the aircraft force land in the wilderness.

4 were previously published in the 2K section (link now killed) but as well as being in the wrong section there also had a gimp fubar'd template. The new pack has the correct template treatments! I-BIZI hopefully justifies the 30 odd hours put into matching up the camo to the 3D model joints!

Zipped file comes with 5Kukas 4K Normal Map. To install without fuss, unzip, open and cope the folder "data" directly into your main game folder (IL2 Sturmovik Batle of..)

The last of the Italian series isn't Italian at all anymore.

History and Story in the spoiler.

Spoiler

Delivered to Ala Littoria in 1935 S/N 4046 I-BIZI was a Piaggio engine aircraft requisitioned in or about the start of 1940 by the Regia Aeronautica and painted in a military scheme (see post above for that skin). Throughout 1940-43  it supported the R.As deployment in France before undertaking regular ferry services within occupied Europe. Sometime in Nov 40 it sustained damage to what google translates from Italian as a "sub-wing". From the 2 images ive found I'm taken this to be the rudder given the apparent temperance of the paint in the BW photos but I could be wrong. The records state it was repaired with parts from an LW aircraft.

Following the Italian armistice in 1943 records show that it was either taken over by the Luftwaffe then passed to Lufthansa or taken over by Lufthansa and passed to the Luftwaffe. Either way I-BIZI became D-AIAO/AI + AO. There the trail ends for me.

So this skin has some basis in history BUT, given there are no photos or records that I can find despite running up a small fortune in reference books, its my personal take on what may have happened (so indulge me).

The first thing ive assumed is that this weary old girl was not sent back to the factory for a fresh coat of paint, especially at this juncture of the war. So she's roughly over sprayed in RLM 71 (work that also assumes that Lufthansa got her first and added their larger codes initially).

The second thing ive assumed is an engine transplant back to the BMW units. Having perhaps the only Piaggio engine aircraft in possibly the entire theatre wouldn't be great for spare part given the manufacturer is now out of the game to all intents and purposes.

Finally - a pure flight of fancy - as well as a plain jane version, there is also one for the Ostfront. Unlikely but a slim possibility perhaps. Either way its there.

4 Skins (guffaw) -

AI+AO (formerly I-BIZI) Western Europe with and without HK

AI+AO (formerly I-BIZI) EASTERN FRONT with and without HK

Download also comes with 5tuka's Normal Map. Fuss free install, unzip and copy the folder called "data" into your main game root folder then delete the skins you don't want (NON HK are marked as such)

Produced with 5tukas template (thank you).
