I'd forgotten how bad CLOD is. Thanks for the reminder, lol.

You're supposed to shoot at your target, not crash into it.

This might be a little more relevant, check minute 6:05.

And yet the symptoms of a crappy engine are still evident on the ground there. Daidalos or whoever is running CLOD these days may be making headway but that video was a great reminder about what happens when you put lipstick on a pig.

Here's a full transparancy skin. Works for all planes and you can see the internals. I made that to test the new plane models during beta.

I would suggest to uninstall it before playing MP though.

Wow... I used this to look at the P40 in the skin viewer... Half of the model doesn't even exist, it's just texture. The BOS Bf109 models have low-poly ribs/spars, the E-7's look a bit like '46 quality and the G-4 doesn't have any at all.

This sim is rock solid and I'll support it till it ends but I have to admit that it's very disappointing to see that some of the later models seem... rushed... and that there is such a large variance of quality between the models.

There is no collision model for trees in Cliffs. Optimization!

Not for DCS 1,5 either and in 2.0 it is like the old IL 2 . touch it and you explode almost.

I find many things within Engine manipulation limited in this game, but the crash in trees are awesome, and I know , because I hit them all the time

What exactly is the complaint in this picture? Wing interior? Legit question, not trying to be argumentative.

As an aside, I had a 109 wing look like that recently, PLUS it was missing the entire flap+radiator section. It was awesome, everything from the aileron to the wing root was missing. Somehow I managed to make it back and land, flapless, with my speedometer broken to boot. Much fun.

If you're looking at a full-screen 1920x1080 image, you see large blurred pixels shaping those decals. The newly introduced 4096x4096 texture resolution support can improve that. Only we haven't got access to the texture containing the decals. Going to have to wait for Mods-On mode for that (which I find to be a questionable approach for developing anything if you're looking for consistent quality, but what do I know).

Team Fusion.

I'd say that defining it a crappy engine altogether is just another rushed opinion.

DCS has a damage model (systems/visual) that can be very primitive. Another crappy engine for you.

It's not about what is wrong but if you like that graphics representation of damaged wing, it's up to your feel that it's look right and convinces you or not. I accepted it but would like to see at least higher textures resolutions of wings and decals. Ideally I would like to see deformed model not just flat file with alfa channels.

I'm ok with the majority of damage being decals if it's an optimization. Now that I have read these threads I realize I've had larger holes in 109's where the through and through shows internals while the 190 is less so. I actually neither need nor expect CLOD level of visual damage modeling. I do expect BoX to catch up somewhat with DX11 and hope the dark gray blotches become more detailed. The current implementation is really immersion breaking. Even if it's just adding a little 3d'ish depression and exposing a bit of bare metal/paint chipping to the holes. They can leave the majority of the large voids in shadow. I don't need to see tons of bent metal nor all of the interior and systems. It's a game not a painting. Somewhere between what we have now and CLOD.

I would like to see more destuctibility of moving surfaces as well- gear covers, fluttering ailerons, engine detachments, hanging landing gear, etc.

The improvement in granule failure, however, is quite exciting.

I've definitely watched the ground through my Pe-2's wings, so they aren't all decals at least

About the part with the internel Components. Its dumb to render them, you dont really need to see them for making a system of simulated damage components.

I like the fact that after getting stuck on the ground during taxi and having to wrench my gear out of the soft ground, after takeoff I discover it's damaged and won't retract on one side. Nice touch.
