Baer Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I read in the forums that one is able to get a higher screen resolution by forcing it through the Nvidia control panel. Right now my native resolution is 1980x1080. My question is has anyone tried this, and if so was there a noticeable strain on their GPU/graphics card? Currently I'm running a i7 3.60 ghz with a Geforce Gtx 960. Regards
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Nvidia DSR yes i did try it (x2 and1,5) to reduce game shimmers but it not worked miracles with big impact on resources demand - i have native 3440x1440 resolution. You can try it as you have fullhd native resolution. New resolution will be avaliable in game luncher. Better use in game AA plus sparse grid supersampling from Nvidia inspector app. to get rid of in game shimmering.
Finkeren Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I have an Nvidia card, and when I changed to a 4K resolution screen, I just updated the drivers and the new resolution options showed up in BoSs settings on next launch.
Baer Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 Ok, I was thinking of bumping it up just one resolution level to see how it affected the sharpness of the game. I figure I can always drop back down if need be.

=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 (edited) if you use DSR you dont need any if much AAJust the FXAA in nvidia control panel is more then enough if you must there is x2 and x4 msaa in game options this can be used along with the FXAAthats why you get performance hit. If you have a screen resolution of 1080P this is a rough equivalent of a 2MP digital photo even a modern phone camera is now about 16-23MP but you can still see the quality improvement on a 1080P screen compared to a pic taken from a 2MP camera If you look at a 23MP photo at native res it will only show a fraction/portion of the image on the screen at one time As an example a common (low end) camera resolution of 16MP is roughly 4846 X 3248 resolution (wrong aspect ratio but still relevant) DSR renders the image at a higher resolution and then presents itself at the resolution format your monitor can use rendering at a higher resolution has same performance impact as using higher res screen (with some shortcomings compared to native) IF your graphic card has performance overhead for the native resolution of your screen, DSR factors can have good benefits in image quality, it is similar to Supersampling AA but not quite the same Cheers Dakpilot Edited January 18, 2017 by Dakpilot
