Hyperlobby is still active and if someone asked Jiri to add support for BoS He may do it.

That would really be ideal

The alternative into jump into the deep end and sink repeatedly until you learn to swim.  Nothing wrong with this approach if it is done with realistic expectations, but a casual player is going to rage quit before he learns to swim.

Or he just drowns. And I guess many drown.

Practice comes after you learn the initial steps. When you learned how to swim you still need to practice.

I think we talk past each other in this thread. I think of it all like this:

Do many people care about tutorials? Maybe no.

Do tutorials guarantee you success? no.

Do some people enjoy tutorials and have benefit from them? yes.

Could tutorials keep people with some interest through the first hard hours and maybe wake more interest? probably.

Can you train everything with tutorials? no.

Are tutorials from developer side too cost intensive for this project? yes.

So there are some good reasons against tutorials, but they mainly come from the circumstances, not the tutorials themselves.

I learned to fly and fight in single player.

When I was ready I began flying multiplayer.

No fuss - no drama.

If I was starting over now I'd pick a plane, use Chuck's and Requiem's learning resources and become proficient in single player - then dip my toe into multiplayer. No developer tutorials necessary.

Since we're still talking about tutorials in here, I've got the wiki created. Those Gamepedia folks are really supportive, it was actually pretty unbelievable, especially for a free service (there are ads, but they aren't very intrusive, check out the very popular minecraft wiki for example).

Anyway, I will post about the wiki here once I get the hang of the admin tools (because I know I'm going to need them, especially for the 190 page  ;)). At that point, anyone interested in writing tutorials about flying in general or specific planes can do so. I also plan to create a resources page linking to Chuck and Req's stuff and the like. If it takes off (pun intended) I can probably get it stickied here and there we go.

AFAIK there's no Minecraft tutorial provided by the devs, and that game is full of surprising complexities that aren't obvious to new players. The wiki is just very successful and the de facto learning resource. I hope we can achieve the same thing here.

start quick mission in air , learn to fly and shoot then learn too taxi , then learn too take off , then learn too land , youtube is the key .

And a decent joystick .

Most games today have no manual . People just go online and find what they need to find . I would rather see time spent fixing issues .

Great idea! Keep us in the loop on how it is going and I'll feature it on my Blog at some point.

hehe,

"I think we talk past each other in this thread. I think of it all like this:"

The "Others"  you mentioned ,how many of them in this post are pure newbies(never played a flight sim)?

Again you think in your box, that's most of the "old hands" did here.

"Do many people care about tutorials? Maybe no."

Depends on how you define the word "many",here there may not be "many" because many newcomers would not even post on this forum.

"Do tutorials guarantee you success? no."

I talked to many sim players, most of them played flight sim because of intrest.they love simulators, they love to fly like a professional,a expert.

First they love to fly, then they would like to win.If they simply want to win .I think people would select some popular online game which will attract more eyeballs. Not like this one, when you talk to someone ,they never know it.

Thus to Be an professional one, this game obviously lacks turorial, why?

All former il2 did have it,flight simulators from microsft have it,CFS have it .Even warthunder have it.

You denied it on be half of Beginners, that 's ridiculous.

"Could tutorials keep people with some interest through the first hard hours and maybe wake more interest? probably."

That 's not a probably ,that's a surely do.

In my opion, most people don't randomly download games online, most of them have jobs, have to goto school ,

They spend limited time on their intrested stuff,They don't download games invain.

Once they are lectured step by step on the intresting thing. They grew up to be more intrested in the stuff .and would love to pay more.

That's how things goes.

Can you train everything with tutorials? no.

You can't train everything with turorials, true.

the fundamentals are the basic stuff you've got to start from ,but may not end up with .That's from AndyBush.

obviously,Some fight stuff  need repeated practice, but that  doesn't mean everybody have to crash the hell out of  sky for a long term .Or pay a lot of patience and time for very basic stuff That wasted beginners.

And how about youtube type of tutorial?

I checked many vids online, some of them lacks profesionalty or offered too few infomation like "Requiem"

i didn't remember something they said as Hartmann

Until oneday,we will  find this game's price get higher and highter.

Up in the sky.

Because there will be no freshmen to spare the cost.with some oldone leaving.

And we have no choice since russian companies already monoplied the market.

Just get ready.

Let's go and see.

My perspective as someone new to this game is that it's never going to reach its potential without basic tutorials to get new players past the initial stages. I'm new to this game and would have loved a tutorial for the basics with tool tips to get me past the initial flight stages of taking off and engine management in this sim. I have played fighter games years ago such as Air Warriors and Aces High and was reasonably proficient and I still found this game very hard to get started  and can only imagine how difficult somebody who has never done any type of flying would find it.   I've watched the youtube videos and while they help it's not the same thing as in game hands on.  I feel for the sim to grow there really needs to be something for new players to help get started.

Guys, the wiki is live at il2sturmovik.gamepedia.com. Go write a tutorial  Or, take JimTM's mission editor manual and make a set of tutorial missions (and I bet I can figure out how to host them on the wiki for download!).

I highly doubt we are never going to get an in-game tutorial from the devs. The community needs to fill in the gaps. It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, it's how it is when you have a team of 20 people working to create a high fidelity sim like we demand. And we sure do demand.

Finally.

If we don't have an highly programmed interactive training system.

Then do it your way,777

Make us 4 planes

USR:

Po-2  Yak-7 trainer.

Axis:

Hs123 Bf108 Taifun

sales em with a cheaper price.23.99 or so.

People could buy them ,and sigh up as a trainer.

These planes could only be used by verified training server or  by training map .only the one who bought the package could have the trainer's control or assign control to others in the flight.

People who got helped is able to send tickets to the official which will get trainers some bonus of buying new  planes.
