IL2 CloD Can't Start

Ok, I bought CloD on Steam on sale for 10$. Now I cant get it to run. I am running on Win 8 64bit.

It just loops at the VCredist part, and then closes. I have tried manually installing it, no dice, says my current version is already newer. I cant get it to start!

 

Any workarounds?

 

EDIT: I dont have the TF patches downloaded, or updated, I wanted to try to run it vanilla first, to check it out, before updating to TF4.0

Please check this thread. Get the latest version of the loader (there are two). After first time execute the loader, then you can launch the game from shortcuts or steam. Enjoy.

Yes this trick works a charm. Without it, impossible to run CloD on Win8.

But after, don't forget to install TF4...much much better than stock.

Question: Does it matter if one installs TF patches before getting the loader, or should you get the loader first and then install the patches?
