Hello just curious if its possible to reskin cockpits and gunners stations and if so is anyone working on these?

Like the low detail models and textures for some guns are barf making.

It is currently not possible to edit anything except for the outside of the plane.

We might be able to edit these things when Mod Support comes out but that is still not 100% sure.

Did not want to turn this into a post of pics showing low res textures on things like gunners guns and ammo boxes.
im sure most people know they not even 1024x1024 pix textures(1k) most are much less.

But i will add 1 soon when i take a pic ingame.
see somewhat ewww IL2 Gunner (what is that btw a .30 cal? )

Don't be a dick about such a request and we may help you out. When we introduce Mods On all textures can be worked with and I hope you guys can experiment with them in a larger format. Until we went to 64bit and DX11 we were limited in what we could do due to memory concerns. Be mindful of that in your criticism or we'll get annoyed.

Wow... I haven't been here long but this response "Don't be a dick" from a representative of this game is concerning to say the least.

Not sure what to think.

"barf making" and "ewwww" are hardly flattering.

"annoying"... ?
Hmm. annoying sounds like a good word to use.
I also have "disrespectful" in mind, but not sure if it can be used in this context of products and buyers.

Don´t be a Dick... that´s actually a good rule to live life by.
the Representative just dished out valuable advice for Life.
... while requesting nothing but "be mindful" from the User.

But the customer is always right, right?
Come on now.

In the Netherlands, we say "Customer is King". However, even a king can be wrong!

Jason, may I kindly ask when would we see Mods On introduced?

So how long until the game is re-packed and opened up for proper mod support (no longer in encrypted pack files)

Mods on will come later this year, but it's your job to unpack them. We just provide the option.

You should have heard what the last producer thought of you guys. I'm the nice one who actually really super cares about what this community thinks and wants. I've devoted the last 10 years of my life to giving this community what they want. If I want to tell someone to not be a dick, I will. I have the right just as you feel you have the right to complain about whatever it is you want. All I ask is for users to be polite to the team in their criticism and treat their efforts with respect.I focus on getting results for the community and not playing super nice nice any more. That ended long ago. Everyone here knows that if you treat us politely we will do the same and continue to improve the product.

And this forum is full of criticism so don't say we don't allow it.

Thank you for your response and thoughts.

For the record, I did not and don't believe criticism is not allowed. I was taken aback with the name calling though. Like I said, I'm new here and so I don't know what relationship there is or has been between the community and those that produce and develop this sim.

Anyway, thank you again for your response.

Buck,

This community has a long history of certain people, old and new and some in disguise coming in and dropping rhetorical bombs after we the developers have spent years battling lies, unfounded claims of bias and personal attacks and only in the last year or so that battle has been mostly won, but some still try to sow discord. Our forum is a very friendly place on the whole, but our relationship with the community has evolved over the years and right now actually things are going pretty great so welcome. Constructive criticism is always allowed.

I think if a 4K cockpit is visible at the same time the 4K plane skin is on would hamper performance. Or is the cockpit model totally separate from the plane model? None the less I think it would be brilliant; especially for VR purposes.

Good enough for me. Thanks, Jason. Can't wait!

you shouldnt have to apologise shadow. your complaints are valid and there's nothing wrong with describing what you dislike about the product you pay for.

the devs response to you was over the top and inappropriate

Seeing as you are new here, maybe a quick read of the rules of posting will avoid any future issues for you (particularly No. 6)

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/3-forum-rules-v104/

As you say there is nothing wrong with describing what you don't like about a product and it is certainly not discouraged, just the way one does it  :)

Cheers Dakpilot
