LoneMerc Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Firstly Im sorry I cant find the original thread of the problem many are having with CTD a couple mins into the game but I recall a common factor was many where using GTX780 cards such as I have. The Devs commented a workaround to roll back to a older driver version but also they where working with Nvidia for a fix perhaps a new driver version? Im holding off from rolling back plus I have a new system on the way anyway but I would like and update if there is one to this issue? Thanks
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) The driver roll back will do little if anything that you will notice..I have done it many times over the years and on many diff games and system and no others games have been effected or any other issues.you have to remeber that most driver updates do very little for old tech and only really effect new cards and new games. Some gaming forums (Gaij) use things like blaming graphics drivers to hide bug reports and bug numbers by saying its old drivers. For the most part 99.9% of the time everyone would be fine with ONLY upgrading gpu drivers once every 12 months.Just run the old drivers and game runs great on GTX780 (like mine)Single player 60fps Ultra with SMAA (re-shade) x4 terrain, *NO GRASS*Multi player 50-60fps Ultra with SMAA (re-shade) x4 terrain *NO GRASS* Edited January 12, 2017 by =r4t=Sshadow14
LoneMerc Posted January 12, 2017 Author Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) Well I did find it and used the driver suggested and it does work which is great but now my newer games wont run with the old driver like BF1. Anyway good to see it does work but I hope there is a real fix soon. Will have a new system with 1080 next week anyway hope all work well with that. Thanks Edited January 12, 2017 by LoneMerc
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 Thats very odd That the newer game wont run..maybe the game files need to be reset to account for driver changes.
HurricaneDriver Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) This is a bloody annoying issue. I have 2x SLI'd 780Ti GPUs, and if I want to continue to fly, I have to ignore Elite Dangerous and BF1. Those games refuse to run with such outdated drivers. Is there ever going to be a fix? I wouldn't have bothered buying BOK if I'd known this issue is likely to be long term..... What's the original thread for this issue? Thanks Edited January 22, 2017 by HurricaneDriver
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Han said Nvidia is aware of the problem and is working on a driver update. I'm sure we'll know as soon as it is sorted.

Capt_Stubing Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Same boat... Just waiting for new Drivers.
No_85_Gramps Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 There is a new Nvidia driver, not sure if it fixes this issue. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/989840/geforce-drivers/-official-378-49-game-ready-whql-display-driver-feedback-thread-released-24-jan-2017-/
71st_AH_Mastiff Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 no good with the shading from the clouds
BornToBattle Posted January 29, 2017 Posted January 29, 2017 Hmmm...I'm still running 368.81. Solved the problem. Haven't heard yet that the new driver fixed the compatibility issue at all so I'm staying put. Seems the new driver also creates other issues with clouds as well. Don't know if they'll ever figure it out. The joys of PC gaming.
BadgerSmedly Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 I'm running 2 780's in SLI and they were handling the sim fine, so I don't want to have to upgrade just because of driver incompatibility. Also it's not acceptable to have to turn graphic options off to stop the black screen and crashing. Hope they get it sorted in forthcoming NVidia drivers. War is hell!
Capt_Stubing Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 From what I was able to find out... The drivers are stalling hence the crash. It's mentioned in the newest driver release notes for other titles but not IL2. So we wait.
HurricaneDriver Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Yeah, I've got SLI'd 780ti cards too, and considering the performance I have compared with newer GPUs I don't want to upgrade yet. I currently can't play IL2 BOS/BOM because I still want access to Elite Dangerous, which hates the earlier driver from August '16. If this is going to be long term, I'll have to cancel my order for BOK.
