6./ZG26_Gielow Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Hello guys !!! In the past we had great on line wars servers for IL2 like AW, ADW and many others. http://war.by-airforce.com/ I think that an on line war server with all those maps and statistics it was the best thing that we can get from flight simulator like the original IL2. Do you guys think is it possible to build new on line wars server based on the new game engine ??? Maybe an official server with lots of historical background, a great interface for briefing and AI planes to fill the gaps and complete game population would be everything that we all are looking for a game like this 1
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I wish one of them would do a North Africa one like "IL-2 War" did in 2008
ATAG_Slipstream Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Hopefully we will be able to Gielow. We should know more in 2013 about what is going to be possible.
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 (edited) Way back when with 2001 IL-2 we use to send flight logs into the admin. after every mission. That was the only way they could calculate witch way to move the map. There was no recording system organized yet I guess. Also old IL-2 never did have any front markers so a map would be uploaded that you could print out witch had the front lines marked. Otherwise you would have to go by all of the town names. That was D.I.D. Dead Is Dead. If you got killed you had to sit out the whole day until your new persona came to the front. Edited December 22, 2012 by Richie
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 I think Air Wars are great. It's where you can have lots of squadrons and pilots flying on the same theater of operations. I remember AW was great because you had all kinds of missions from simple patrols to recon missions. Ground attack missions were great too, supporting advancing panzers, bombing cities under siege, search and destroy transport columns behind enemy lines. The only drawback in my opinion is that it was a cooperative mission server, if you could log in and start to fly right away it would be perfect. A Software company that can build a game and server like this could dominate the market. Just saying

Some were just dull facts of what happened during a flight, some however were filled with so much drama and excitment that it was almost like reading a real pilots bio. You wanted to go get some pop corn. Edited December 28, 2012 by Richie

I took up solitaire for the year after, to recover. :D
JG13_opcode Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 +1 Some of the best experiences I had were in online wars.
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 I just remembered that I have an old video of those days. Bf110 in close air support helping panzers to capture an enemy position. IL2 trying to destroy the panzers.
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted January 11, 2013 Author Posted January 11, 2013 "12) Is it possible to introduce and exchange information with the developers of on-line wars behind closed doors at the design stage? In order to jointly search for the best solutions to meet the wishes of the players?Yes it is possible, but at a later stage. " You guys from 777 are on the right way !!!
