Bf 110G-2 Excitement!

i though that statement was only true for existing planes that already have standard templates? i mean they have to create one for the plane anyway and it feels like a waste of time to make a "low res" template and wait for the community to upscale it

This will be one of my favorite rides in BOK by far! Hopefully it doesn't get bogged down by the extra weight, but given the HP/ton numbers posted earlier, in theory that shouldn't be a problem. I think the plane-set and map of BOK will be the most interesting and fun of them all, and look forward to flying all the new planes. Good times ahead

Yes me to. I really hope that we get some G2 pictures or a movie today. Would be really cool. According to the planning from the Q&A we would get the G2 at the end of this month. I hope they make it.

I doubt that the G2 could carry more bombs then the E2. To be honest, the E2 can already carry 1250 kg of bombs (SC1000+SC250). Which is a lot for a twin engine fighter.  The extra's for the G2 would be the 20 and 37 mm gunpods.

Looking forward to the 110G2 very much.  I dare say it was the deciding factor for my BoK purchase.

 

If memory serves, the G2 had the option for a twin 30mm pod under the fuselage.  Anyone know if this will be an option?

In the DEV updates you can see that we will at-least get the BK3,7 cannon and the dual 20 mm cannon as pods. The rest will be bombs i guess. Just like with the E-2. The 30mm MK108 came later and replaced the 4 Mg17's. But i don't think they will add this.

Afaik for the German pilots - next to more powerful engines - the most welcomed feature of the G-2 were the improved flight characteristics, mainly by the enlarged jaw rudders. The redesign of the tail section corrected some stability shortcomings of the earlier 110-models - much needed, as we all know. Very much needed for the upcoming nightfighter-missions with large drop tanks, radar antenna, a third man as radar operator etc.

 

That 3,7-cm-gun below the 110 has been tested in 1943, in short: a disaster, dropped and buried soon. That ugly add-on might be a must-have because of marketing aspects ... I'd trade in the developers time for features like cluster-bombs, drop flares, recon versions.

I guess it's not fair to blame the plane for the pilot's shortcomings.

In flight the handling was quite ok, but start and landings, side wind stability etc are weak points, modeled quite correctly compared to the reports.

To be honest i don't think the extra 20 mm guns are going to be super useful. For air combat you don't want the extra weight and drag. And for ground attacking the normal guns will do fine. I think it would have been great against B-17's and Lancasters.
