XARAthe_super_fly Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Hello BOS community! I have a few problems with the FPS in the hangar, it goes up to 25 at best even though the fps while in gameplay is 50-60. Specs: Processor: Intel® Core i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Display Memory: 4054 MB Dedicated Memory: 2017 MB I've used a few tools to try and see what's stressing out my system and I've noticed that the D3D usage is at 100% in the hangar and I'm assuming that this is the root of the problem. Gameplay D3d usage Hangar D3D usage After doing some digging about this "D3D" I've learned that it has something to do with the DX that the game is running on and that this might be solved by changing between "-DX9", "-DX10" and "-DX11" to see if the fps improves on any of them. Unfortunately I've tried launching on all 3 with no improvements. I'm aware that i should be thankful that during gameplay it runs ok but I'm sure that if i manage to get better fps in the hangar by solving this issue, I'll manage to make the game run in 60 constantly during gameplay. Thanks, Super_Fly
XARAthe_super_fly Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Checked the VSync and it seems that it was turned off, just like any other graphics settings that are GPU demanding.
BOO Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 you can also turn you FPS limiter off i think as you aint using full screen. Is Vsync selected in the Nvidia Control panel? either in global or game specific?
XARAthe_super_fly Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Vsync is set to "use the 3D application setting", but I've tried booting the game with it set to off with no improvements. I've attached a picture of the settings in my Nvidia control Panel, maybe there's something that it's on and should be off that I'm missing.
BOO Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 One you get past the very obvious things I almost think advising anything else is like telling someone to make a sacrifice and dance backwards around a fire on a full moon.... the card is on low side as you know but setting the card to prefer maximum power instead of optimal and selecting single display performance if you use only one screen may help a bit. The Optimal power setting would also indicate a fairly new driver for the card- perhaps try an older one that better supports the 6xx series? After that Im afriad Im already beyond my limits of knowledge apart from to say that if you made any changes with nvidia inspector, perhaps uninstall the driver and do a full clean install with one in the 368 number range to see. The best of luck Regards BOO
Dakpilot Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 First click the tab for program settings, and look for IL-2 BOO's suggestions above are all good I would add : change texture filtering- quality from = Quality to = Performance and Pre rendered frames to = 2 these may reduce VRam/GPU memory usage Normally I have found that if the hangar screen is slow but you are still able to get good frames in game it is a possible indication that when things are intensive ingame there will be FPS issues because you are close to (a) limiting factor, CPU/RAM/GPU/VRam Even though I have different PC spec's, through general experience I know that if get 25fps/stutter in hangar screen I am overloading some aspect of my PC (as a rough guide) Cheers Dakpilot
