davedp32 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Forgive my ignorance....but how do you make the mouse click inside the cockpit . Mine would just turn pilots head I know that there probably is a key command for it....been awhile since IL2 1946 ... Thank you DD
Rama Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Mouse don't click inside the cockpit. All what you can do is turn the pilot head So everything's fine.
O_Smiladon Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 There are no clickable cockpits in BOS.. Sry
Sternjaeger Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Jason do you think there could be any chance in the future for a more complex aircraft management and clickable cockpits if there was enough demand? 1
davedp32 Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Ok , my bad I seen a video sometime back and I thought it might have been clickable...... P.S the little time I got to spend in (just 2 days) was amazing! Great work guys! cant wait for the GUNS friday P.S.S....It was DCS P-51 Mustang that had clickable cockpit
Sternjaeger Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 there was a mod for 1946 that had a clickable cockpit, but I don't think there was further development.
Quax Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 .....PLEASE not again this clickable cockpit discussion 1
M4rgaux Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 By asking to not have this discussion, you have revived a topic dead for 3 days, now the discussion will go on and it's you're fault ! 3
DD_bongodriver Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Besides, why shouldn't paying customers be able to discuss features they'd like to see in the future. 1
SR-F_Winger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Thank god the devs dont waste their time with an unneeded feature like that. Get a good hotas - problems solved.
=38=Tatarenko Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 agreed. a clickable cockpit will be a prob with OR.
DD_bongodriver Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 agreed. a clickable cockpit will be a prob with OR. How so? I think it will be essential because you can't see the keyboard, and a camera to see the keyboard seems like a silly idea.
M4rgaux Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Unless you don't know you're keyboard layout, seeing the keyboard is useless. Now if you care for you're hand, you should really learn dvorak layout or the one corresponding to you're native language.
Sternjaeger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) I'm not a fan of HOTAS, but regardless of my personal preference I frankly don't see what's wrong in discussing the possibility in the future for a clickable cockpit. Some of you guys really should take a chill pill.. Edited December 6, 2013 by Sternjaeger 1
SKG51_robtek Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Thank god the devs dont waste their time with an unneeded feature like that. Get a good hotas - problems solved. It's people like you, who want to dictate what is needed or enjoyable for everybody, which are the cause of most world problems.
Quax Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Besides, why shouldn't paying customers be able to discuss features they'd like to see in the future. Ok, but why ignore the paying customers, who hate gimmicks like mouse fiddling in the cockpit ? BTW, BOS devs announced early on, there are no clickable cockpits. So why another senseless discussion ? Too much of them already .... Edited December 6, 2013 by Quax
SR-F_Winger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 What, something like this? panam1.jpg more like this
Uufflakke Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 there was a mod for 1946 that had a clickable cockpit, but I don't think there was further development. Freddy worked on a clickable cockpit at the Histomod site. Don't know what happened with it. There was also a WIP mod by Zephyr with a clickable SBD-3 cockpit. Video of it is still on YouTube.
SR-F_Winger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) It's people like you, who want to dictate what is needed or enjoyable for everybody, which are the cause of most world problems. Heh whats wrong with you? I was just saying my opinion Edited December 6, 2013 by VSG1_Winger
Sternjaeger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Heh whats wrong with you? I was just saying my opinion it came across as a tad condescending mate.. Look guys, if you're not interested in clickable cockpits, just don't post here. We all know there are alternatives, but that's not the point, just let other people express their reasoning without telling how you think it's a waste of time or how a HOTAS is better. I personally think a HOTAS is a stupid solution and a bit of a cheat, but do I come and bomb the HOTAS threads? No. Edited December 6, 2013 by Sternjaeger
thx1138 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Bearcat has already had a busy day today, two threads locked already. So let's not let this one become the third.

I personally think a HOTAS is a stupid solution and a bit of a cheat, but do I come and bomb the HOTAS threads? No. That might be because eglish is not my mother language. All i wanted to say is that - in my opinion - clickable cockpits are a feature thats not really needed. Especially if you look into the future (oculus rift). And indeed because of this being my opinion, i am happy the devs dont develop it and use their time on features that are obviously more important to them as well as for me. However if the communityvoices indicate that a majority of simmers DO actually want such a feature i would by no means mind 777 implementing it.

SKG51_robtek Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Sorry winger if i took your post the wrong way. I am a fan of clockable cockpits and i would love to have the option. As I have said many times, a clickable cockpit is a extra to all the other ways to move those levers and switches. One doesn't have to use it! But there are quite a few people, especially multi-mot pilots, who would love to see a change of mind from the developers. That will not happen if that opinion isn't posted, quite often if needed  .

I wish you folks the best of luck that one day 777 will implement the feature that makes this sime a better one for you.
Buster617 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 You can't have a proper start up sequence without a clickable cockpit....it's not a sim without one in my mind.
M4rgaux Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 You can't have a proper start up sequence without a clickable cockpit....it's not a sim without one in my mind. I doubt many pilot click there cockpit irl, it would require some sort of robotic arm and would be counter productive, yet they do have proper start up sequence.
BraveSirRobin Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Hey, if people want to keep beating that poor horse, I'll keep hoping that the devs don't waste any time on a clickable cockpit.
Sternjaeger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Hey, if people want to keep beating that poor horse, I'll keep hoping that the devs don't waste any time on a clickable cockpit. you, sir, are a troll. 1
SR-F_Winger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 This is what will happen in the coming time (i believe): In about 2 years most of the simmers will wear some sort of VR headset like the oculus rift is one. Until then there will also be some sort of controllerdevice that tracks the position of your arms and transfers them into the VR. There are already lots of systems in the makes. All cockpits will then be "kind of klickable"/ controllable with your virtual limbs.
ATAG_Slipstream Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Clickable pits start making a lot more sense in multi engine planes IMO. I use them a lot in CoD, but then theres possibly more systems modelled to make it worthwhile. I can never remember all the buttons I have mapped for compass/course autopilot/fuel systems etc. Edited December 6, 2013 by 9./ZG26Oster
M4rgaux Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 What you're saying is the best way to do it, we will see if motion capture become precise enough to do that. virtual limbs. I like that !
DD_bongodriver Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I don't want to be waving my arms around in virtual space, particularly not when there is a very real life desk in front of me waiting to take a chunk out of my knuckles, much simpler to have a click pit to take care of the more mundane cockpit husbandry tasks that are not assigned to HOTAS functions.
SR-F_Winger Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Suggestion Bongo: Get a centermounted stick and slide back with your chair:)
