ICDP Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 (edited) Hi all. A heads up that the Fw190A-A3 skins are now updated to 4K standards by default. There are significant changes to the layout of rivets and panels to match the real Fw190A. As such please download the official Fw190A-3 4K template form here (Look in the BoS section). Boomerang Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Thank you very much ICDP, time and skill much appreciated
Obelix Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Very nice work, thanks for sharing Happy new year
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Incredible quality. I wish you could make all of the 4K templates so the quality of work was consistent for all of the aircraft.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 13, 2017 Posted January 13, 2017 I am using GIMP and working with the template. I am not seeing any layers affecting the ailerons (top or bottom) except for the "Shadow" and "Noise" layer. None of the detail from your screenshots is there. I've reloaded the psd file to double check but it's the same. I've tried rearranging the layers but still a no-go. It appears that something is being left out in the import to GIMP.

Can you post a screenshot of your problem with the skin? I can attempt to fix the issue with Gimp.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Thanks for the quick response ICDP. Here are some screens. 1
SOLIDKREATE Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Outstanding work! I'm starting work on the Bf-109E-7 soon.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Thanks for the quick response ICDP. Here are some screens. Did you move it out of Advanced users? It should be in there but set to overlay thus not visible in gimp.
Original_Uwe Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Did you move it out of Advanced users? It should be in there but set to overlay thus not visible in gimp. Yes I've had to do this many a time in the BoS/DCS templates. Is there a way to change it from overlay to something gimp will see in a layer group?
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Hadn't moved that layer, just the one Shadows layer. Should other layers with Overlay mode be brought to the top?
ICDP Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 5tuka obviously sees it in Gimp so not sure why you aren't. I will set these layers to normal and re-upload.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Hadn't moved that layer, just the one Shadows layer. Should other layers with Overlay mode be brought to the top? Yea you need to do this with every layer within Advanced users that is not set to normal. Otherwise Gimp will apply it only for contents within the layer group, not the overall skin. Yes I've had to do this many a time in the BoS/DCS templates. Is there a way to change it from overlay to something gimp will see in a layer group? You could set blending mode to normal and change the layer transparency for similar effect but for some layers like shadowing it's easier to just move it to the top than chasing after a work around.
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) ICDP, I do see the layer, just hadn't moved it. Thanks 5tuka, good to know. Edited January 14, 2017 by 12.OIAE_Stick-95
ICDP Posted January 14, 2017 Author Posted January 14, 2017 ICDP, I do see the layer, just hadn't moved it. Thanks 5tuka, good to know. Good to know it's working OK. I will be sure to make less use of the overlay mode to improve Gimp compatibility.
ICDP Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 Hi all, I have updated the template with better looking rivets. Download again if you want the new version. 2
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 Thanks for the update of the rivets ICDP. Got things sorted out with my wip.
E69_julian57 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) Beautiful skin, it is possible that it is historical version. regards Edited January 17, 2017 by E69_julian57
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 ICDP I am in the process of making a historical skin. Here is a screenshot of an issue I am having. I brought back the RLM 74 & 75 camo line above the leading edge along the wing. What I am finding is the underlying RLM 76 has 3 different shades, most noticeable as it approaches the wing root. It is not the Base RLM 76 layer that is the cause but instead it seems to be the combined effects of the Panel Depth, Panel Dents and maybe also the Shadows copy layer. I've tried a few things to try to correct this but without much luck. Thoughts?

I will take a look at the offending layers and attempt a fix.
ICDP Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 (edited) I have it fixed and will upload the updated template tonight. Thank you for pointing this out. The main culprit was the Shadow layer, which at that point had 3 different shades meeting. The panel depth layer was also causing a problem there but not as severe. The latest version of the template has a v3 in the file name. It also has some other tweaks I have carried out over the past few days. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6c62w0iewet1uzc/FW190a3_4096_Public_v3.zip?dl=0 Edited January 19, 2017 by ICDP 2
ICDP Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 Glad to have your input so I could fix it. Let me know if you find any more issues or have any suggestions for improvements.
Original_Uwe Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 ICDP this may be the best template Ive ever used. You know how it goes: You download a template, see some stuff you don't like and go about spending hours making fixes and tweaking things here and there before you start pumping out skins. Not so with this one. Its god damn near perfect. A couple of fixes (Pitot tube, joint between horizontal stabilizers and fuselage) but all I had to do was add certain things I wanted, the base template itself is astonishing. Thank you so very much for this!
ICDP Posted January 28, 2017 Author Posted January 28, 2017 Thank you for the praise, but without input from many people from the community I would have missed so much errors. I will now revisit to fix the problems you listed above, thanks.

Im using the very first release of the template so you may have already fixed it, the circled areas of the template were blank/solid RLM76 when I downloaded it. . VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 ICDP, if you do release a new template, it would be very helpful if you could identify in a post the layers changed/added so they can be moved to existing templates. Thanks.
ICDP Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Edit, template updated on 30/01/2017, please download again. If you only want the fixed layers then the following list of changes were made. Added to template v4 on 30 Jan 2017 New camo layers for Winter and Desert Sand RLM 79 New Desert ID band layer Pitot tube colours fixed on all the following camo layers. RLM 74 - Green RLM 70 Other additions include alternate Fuselage crosses 1
Original_Uwe Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 Oh I'm interested to see the desert layers!
Original_Uwe Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 So I didnt think this could get any better-until I tried it in Photoshop Im not sure what it is but the way photoshop handles layers and colors is so much finer than gimp. Set me back a bit recovering my work from gimp but damn, great results. Cant say enough about this template thank you ICDP!
BOO Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Hello ICDP Is there a normalmap for the 4K A3? Thanks BOO
