Hopper64 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Just reinstalled windows 10 on a new ssd and noticed after downloading and installing the game that it was installed in the old program files (32 bit) directory, not the program files (64). Works very well, but just wondered if this will be a problem?
No_85_Gramps Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 No, it won't. But it is strange that on a fresh install it went into the 32 bit dir.
SvAF/F16_Goblin Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 As a standard procedure I never install anything in the two windows standard folders Program and Program (x86). I always install in either separate hdd's, one for games and one for work software or if that's not possible two new folders program_games and program_work. The two standard folders are heavily guarded by windows and some software misbehave when installed there. 1
bald_eagle Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 The "C:\Program Files" is the 64 bit directory. The "C:\Program Files (x86)" is the 32 bit directory. The names can be confusing ( its worse in less visible places of the OS).
Hopper64 Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 Yea. I was surprised when I saw the whole directory in program files (x86). There was an update months ago which swapped the directory to c:program files. Don't know why a fresh install defaulted to the 32 bit section.
