Ribbon Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 It would be nice to have 3d mission editor like in arma3!!! And make it more player friendly, easier to use! Simple map builder too! And add workshop on il2 bos steam page where community can upload their work(skins, missions and campaigns)!!! I know it is enormous work to do but i think it would bring game on a whole new level!!!
Gambit21 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Is an exclamation after each sentence necessary?!!!!! We do have a way to upload missions!!! Stop with the Arma 3 stuff - never going to happen here!! Put some time into learning the powerful editor that we have!!! 1
Yakdriver Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 What he said!!!We have a way to share skins already, more options are only confusing!why steam? buy your products here so all the money goes towards the Creators!
Feathered_IV Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Hi redribbon. I'm with you on the map builder. Don't worry about the exclamation marks. "Personally" I like inverted commas. And italics, which I think look peachy.
Lusekofte Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Yeah, the ME is a bit much to take on , I have tried to do serious work with it many times since it became available. It is the kind of work I found very pleasant in IL 2 3 years back. But I had better time , and now I have not. And that is the key word, it need a greater deal of devotion, you need to learn. I find it not impossible or hard once going, but then again I haven't made any big missions with complexity. But my impression is you can do a lot with it 1
Lusekofte Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 why steam? buy your products here so all the money goes towards the Creators! A choies given by the developers themselves, and it is a free world, not up to you to correct nor patronise anyone for their choices , But I do not get it why people choose steam in this game nor DCS. Updates and modules come later, so even if the choice is beyond my/ our comprehension , it is valid. Map building has been a complex affair in all simulators I have visited/ enjoyed. I doubt it would be easy, hardest and most time-consuming in my mind is getting it historical correct. And I do not like the thought we get spammed with maps from Disneyworld, piccachuland, wonderland, And Starwars either. There should be a level of dedication before you where allowed to import something into this game
No601_Swallow Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Hi redribbon. I'm with you on the map builder. Don't worry about the exclamation marks. "Personally" I like inverted commas. And italics, which I think look peachy. Elipses... That's where the real action is for forum messages... And don't forget the smilies... Don't forget, by the way, Mr OP - the ME is already 3D! Also most of what we think of as complexity is simply because the ME is allowing us to "program" the mission elements visually (using visual "units" and visual linkages) - it's allowing us to access the power of scripting/computer programming without having to got to Imperial or MIT for a PhD in Computer Science first! It's very rewarding to put the effort in. When stuff starts to "click" in the missions you're building, it's seriously rewarding!!!**£$... Lots of learning resources and hand-holding (Awww!... ) available in the ME forum! 1
IRRE_Centx Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Updates and modules come later Out of subject but just to debunk some myth about the Steam version: wrong and wrong Updates come at the same time as for people who don't use Steam (well maybe 1 hour later sometimes...) and you can buy all modules on il-2 website exactly the same day even if you have the Steam version (and still giving 100% money to Devs ) Why people like me use the Steam version? Mainly for the download speed of updates... for my case it's 10-15 times faster on Steam than with the il-2 launcher. So even if the update is sometimes delayed 1 hour, at least I can download the patch in 1 hour, not in 12 hours as with the launcher.
Ribbon Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 sorry for my crappy writing skills! i did purchase bom,bos and one plane from steam and later when i realised and read that i should support it trought official page i did buy; BOK and Ju52 from it. And i will continue support it only trought official il2 page! Now for editor, i'm not really into it yet becouse i didn't have time to study it well, but i will do. i mention arma cos it has the most Advanced editor out there, when i started it was really newbie friendly and later i learned scripting and other more complex options which lead to creating full campaigns with animations. Maybe i rushed with conclusion before studying it better, time will tell but from First look there could be improvements at least for steditor newbies like me. As i said i will invest time into studying it and than i can bring some more detailed suggestions(reasonable one) if i get one, i'm not here to criticise it, i love this game and playing it since i was child (with break) so i want it to keep evolving.
TP_Jacko Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Redribbon. The groups concept is the key to making missions easily. You can import a flight of say 4 fighters complete with waypoints attack and landing commands. You can grab groups from missions built by others save to reuse and modify as you wish. There is also a detailed ME guide book. Keep at it get a collection of groups then tell us what you think. Tangmere Pilots have built a team of 6 mission builders for our Sunday ops and friday fun missions. Edited January 4, 2017 by TP_Jacko
Lusekofte Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Updates come at the same time as for people who don't use Steam (well maybe 1 hour later sometimes...) Not my impression when it comes to BOM, and in DCS they are month behind, but I trust you for your word. I guess the product need to be finished before release at steam, and BOM was not for a while, same goes for DCS, the modules are pretty much betas all of them
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 A choies given by the developers themselves, and it is a free world, not up to you to correct nor patronise anyone for their choices , -snip- Somebody should give you a SJW medal. inb4 generic i dont have time for dat response
Gambit21 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 The editor is needlessly complex for certain things, however you need only build each group of MCU's once. With other things, most things, the complexity gives you power. Once you get over the hump it's great fun, more so than the old mission builder (the feeling is quite the opposite at first). So it's simply a matter of putting in the hours, and the editor has some quirks too that need to be navigated. As said above, it's very rewarding once you get a handle on it. I wouldn't trade it for the old editor.
Gambit21 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 ...and there is help in the ME forum. Those peeps got me over the hump. Good people there.
Ribbon Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 ...and there is help in the ME forum. Those peeps got me over the hump. Good people there. i will put some hours in it and study it, thanks!
Habu Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 If you want to uderstand the ME which is very powerfull and not hard to understand, when you try to learn its logic without trying to use the logic from another tool. So, what you have to understand is : - Entity - Add target - Add object And when you want to use a command, ask yourself : Who has to use the command which will help you for the link. If you understand that, you can play with the ME. The other MCU is only logical. What is very important is to use group. if you don't, the debug process will becom crasy. And as other said, with group, you can copy, import or export one. And as Gambit said, if you have some question, ask on the forum.

Habu Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Just a trick which is very helpful. If you have a mouse with button which can be program, do a profil with Shift O and Shift T (Add Target and Add Object).
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Workshop is pointless what about all the players in IL2 who don't run through steam.Steam - They are Thieving, Lying, Scum who steal money from 1c & 777 (well all game companies)
BlitzPig_EL Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Steam - They are Thieving, Lying, Scum who steal money from 1c & 777 (well all game companies) Umm, no. They don't steal anything from anybody. Developers/Publishers agree willingly to put their games on Steam because of the huge audience that Steam offers, hence increasing sales and profits for said developers/publishers. It's called business.
