Salutations,

I noted the same thing while learning to create missions.

If I remember correctly, it had something to do with the airfields taxi routes. If they or the airfield was configured correctly the 'forced landing' message ceased.

Thanks for the hint. I will check if this fixes the problem.

Thanks for looking into it. I'm on the 4th or 5th mission now. Really nice campaign.

Other changes will be necessary too. Ivan's War was one of the first campaigns done for BoX and is now a little outdated. I think I will release an update once the next game patch is available.

Sounds good. Thanks for looking into it.

I've uploaded the new version.

Changes:

- Campaign missions are now compatible with game version 4.501.
- Fixed incorrect "forced landing" message in debriefing screen.
- AI aircraft will now return to base when damaged.
- Corrections to some waypoint settings.
- Lowered enemy bomber skill to make gunners less deadly.

My other campaigns have been updated to game version 4.501 too.

What did you discover that corrected the unwanted "forced landing' message? :coffee:

It was caused by missing fakefield object at the player's airfield.

Just flew the first mission; everything went well so far.

But I had no red/blue frontlines on the briefing map which I use as a map during the flight.

There are no frontline markings in the first mission because German ground forces hadn't reached the area.

This is an outstanding scripted campaign, that everyone should be forced to play by their squadron commissar.

I have played quite a few, of which some are of close to equal quality, but so far none better. There is even an film full of dad jokes about the campaign somewhere on the www, although that is not the fault of Juri_JS.

Play this campaign or be executed by firings squad.  Encourage Juri_JS to make lots more! Or be shot!

I have had this campaign on my drive for such a long time and only now just completed the most recent version. This campaign is a tour de force and has given me a new liking for the Yakovlev fighters. Well crafted and carefully choreographed there is a lot of replay value  here. Well done on an excellent piece of work.

How do I finish Mission 2? Do I have to shot the whole convoy by myself? Is the complete convoy to be killed? My KI mates dont hit anything and I dont have enough ammo to shoot it all.

You can finish the mission without killing anything. You only need to land safely back at your airfield. I never create missions that can only be completed when achieving a certain number of kills.

Oh. Killing nothing is the best I can do :)

This campaign is nothing but amazing and i recommend it to every beginner like me. The missions are very well crafted and i love the short flight times, because i am still getting shot rather often. The yak is pretty forgiving to fly and this evening i got my first ever fighter kill with it! Thank you so much for this awesome sp experience!

I guess I have an installation problem with this campaign. I wanted to start it over again but following 4.601 here is how it looks like:

I downloaded and installed rev.n 01 of the campaign but nothing changed. Oh, and of course missions fail to load.

Any ideas?

This campaign is so good that I decided to refly it after a couple of months since my first time, so my upvote to @Juri_JS.

What I appreciated most is the historical accuracy, a major improvement over the somehow repetitive stock Stalingrad campaign.

Thank you again!

Is the option to skip the image at mission start still working for anyone after update 4.703? For me the latest update broke it. :(

Skipping images should work again after hotfix 4.703c.

A quick comment in 2025 on this very great campaign for potential newcomers wondering whether it’s still worth playing or up to date. In short—yes, it absolutely is!

I revisited IL-2 Sturmovik nearly 10 years after my last flight in IL-2 1946, and I thoroughly enjoyed returning to WW2 flight simulation with Ivan’s War campaign.

The story is well-written, allowing for deep immersion in the conflict at Stalingrad. Ivan’s Diary does an excellent job of conveying the progression of the war and the emotions of the soldiers—where everyone knows that only the lucky ones will make it back in one piece. It was also very enjoyable to follow all the battle of Stalingrad as it was also a way to learn more about this phase of the ww2.

The missions avoid feeling repetitive, and I especially want to highlight the excellent mission progression. At first, everything seems under control, but as the Germans advance toward Stalingrad, total chaos gradually takes over.

A special mention goes to Missions #7 and #8.
