Allons Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 Harmless, naive but interesting to see the obvious problems to overcome the horizont of their own events of life. Should be better called "from the sight of an ex-soldiers generation" Greetz, Allons!
1./JG42Nephris Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 (edited) Wehrmacht - This is how the German soldier was It is just a title, but tbh it is an unfair or misleading title. That again is the reason why I personal do not like those documentations - anymore - (probably without ut or speaker off). Common german documentation and very typical are those "Guido Knopp" seasons. Simply a bunch of wrong cutted interviews (off the asked context to the question) and spreading untrue and unfair rumors. RK Oblt. Georg Bose, mentioned in a mail exchange "...unsere Jugend wird verknoppt und nciht aufgeklärt ...(our youth gets Knopped, but not educated)", by what he hit the nails head. Ashame there a just a few left of the grandfather generation, but if one would like to know "how was a Jap,German,British,Russian or American soldier" read a simple war diary or rememberances. Most I read of different army soldiers wrote of same fears, desires and feelings. "The a**hole on the other side is same than me, 2 legs,2 arms, a head to use a helmet, a crying mother and father, and pieces of poo in his trousers just b4 an attack. Waiting for sleep, meal and the end of the war" So maybe those documantation are fine to see some real footage, which mostly were recaptured in a training exercise for an attack. Just few war reporters had balls enough to stand the pressure, which shall not decrease their work of course. Useful documents are imho the videos made by soldiers themselve, like "mit der Kamera nach Stalingrad" produced and explained by participating soldiers in those movies. pls_delete_this Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 (edited) Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter is really good miniseries. (just finished watching on television) I assume it showed very good, state of mind of German soldiers in general. At the beginning of war with Russia, during and at the end of war. I'm sorry in advance if I'm off topic. Edited February 4, 2014 by Herzog
