Tr.Gr.186_Schutze Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Currently the game is sold as battle of stalingrad but what it makes the the bos realy? Where is the feeling? I understand its in early alpha however it could be called battle of budapest and nobody would notice. Will the BOS contain the logistical problems luftwaffe had to endure? Will be the winter/spring weather properly simulated? Whats the point to call it BoS when you got unlimited supplies and crystal clear weather in most sessions? The real battle was bloody, slow, planes got broken, visibility was crap most of the time. Not mentioning supply runs were essential {majority of losses were transport planes} and luftwaffe was tasked with ground support not air dogfights all the time. I hope the historical things wil lbe taken into account becouse then BoS would be same as War Thunder just with better FM and damage model. Edited December 2, 2013 by Rastignac
=38=Tatarenko Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Oh FFS. This is your first post? We also don't have wingmen, AA guns, a Stalingrad map, clouds, trains, boats, vodka or young Masha from the collective farm. These things will come. Especially Masha.
BraveSirRobin Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 If you want the true Stalingrad feeling you should more your PC into a walk-in freezer and have an angry guy with a mustache constantly threatening to kill you if you retreat (conveniently works for either side). 2
ParaB Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 We need MesserMasha. The Russian cousin of SpitGirl.
Rama Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Currently the game is sold as battle of stalingrad but what it makes the the bos realy? Read this post. Especially the part above the Historical Campaign. Don't judge the game on what you can see in the alpha version, wait to get and try the solo campaign (when it will be possible). Only after will you be able to tell if the feeling is there or not.
wtornado Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 That is why I am waiting until it goes gold this spring then I will judge it.
SCG_Neun Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 (edited) Serviceable aircraft available, skill level of pilots, number of pilots available, reduced fuel, weather conditions.......and tasked historical missions can be set within the parameters of the campaign/mission. You have really answered your own question....It's in Alpha stage. I would like to point out that this sim will be played within a geographic area, including the City of Stalingrad and the historical airbases within that Theatre. That's why they call it the Battle of Stalingrad. The planeset for the sim is modelled for BOS as well. We shall see how it progresses.....but so far this is an awesome sim. When you fire up that 109....with the snow blowing across the runway......heck.....I even feel cold. As the moon is reflected off the frozen snows below at night....a cold frozen...barren land it all feels right, even though it's in the early stages. For me personally the gradual release of aircraft and options of play has been a good thing. I can master landing/takeoff's, full realistic settings, and soon some gunnery practice. As the sim progresses so too will my skill level, and by the time this thing goes "gold" I hope to be a master of sorts with no transitional downtime to take away from my precious flight time.... Cybermat47 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 What makes it Stalingrad? THE BLOODY CITY OF STALINGRAD. 1
Furio Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 As others have said, this is a 32% Alpha. We have just one third of the game, but much less of it if we consider planes and map, so it’s difficult to say anything sensible on the topic. In what we already have, however, there’s surely the right atmosphere of Stalingrad’s winter, I agree with JagdNeun. The battle is waiting somewhere outside the available map.
Tr.Gr.186_Schutze Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 (edited) Well i read some threads about it already but have decided to hold the purchase until the game goes gold and there are some reviews. Since i would be not interested in second war thunder. To Cyber and Furio> No the map and winter map doesnt cut it. Most fights will happen in areas outside of city and crystal clear weather was ultra rare. To give you example. German troops needed 500-700 tons of suplies. However they got problems even with 100 tons or so. The transport aicrafts simply couldnt take off and if they took off they were landing on airfields build from snow with strong wind and crashed. 80 percent of the luftwaffe losses were actualy transport planes and bombers due to ops losses and kills since fighters were not aviable. I know they will make some effort in campaign obviously but what im interested is multiplayer settings. Thats why i will hold to see how deep the game goes and how well the game will work in multiplayer with various settings. Edited December 3, 2013 by Rastignac
Rama Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I don't understand.... weather condition in multiplayer settings will be the responsability of the mission creator or the server parameters... it has nothing to do with the game development.

I hope the historical things wil lbe taken into account becouse then BoS would be same as War Thunder just with better FM and damage model. which makes it light years ahead of WT. what you are essentially asking for (it sounds like) is CoH2 with flying. I dont know if you will ever find that.

Wait, have you seen the weather effects is RoF? - the engine that BoS is based on- there are lots of clouds/weather that look very good. BoS wont be clear and a million once the weather effects are turned on. But I respect your decision to wait, I understand alot are waiting after the previous debacle, just be sure you are waiting for the right reasons. Lack of weather int one of them IMHO.
