deleted@31403 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I watch the videos and the community has made a lot of nice videos. It seems in those videos there are a lot less haze. Is there a best time to fly with less haze? Is there a setting I am missing? I tried Sweet FX and help some but just cant seem to get it. Any suggestions?
Urra Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) You mean the white stuff off in the background constantly? From ground to sky off in the distance? It used to not be there two years ago. I have been trying to turn it off ever since. If you look at old threads from 2014 on the terrain topic you will see distant landscapes with beautiful horizons, with dx11 there should really be no need for the white haze. I honestly did not notice any performance difference without it. There is a good chance it will be done away with in the future...I hope. Edited December 30, 2016 by Smok
buck1ea Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I'm glad it is not just me! I bought BOS a long time ago and just now learning how to play. Feels like I am in a snowglobe.
ShamrockOneFive Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Can you guys post some screen shots to show us what you're seeing?
Urra Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 (edited) https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12501-you-also-think-bos-beautiful-how-about-making-it-absolutly-g/?p=252272 Looking back at these two shots with regard to being able to see horizon more or less touch the sky (almost). Also this: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/12501-you-also-think-bos-beautiful-how-about-making-it-absolutly-g/?p=196425 I still haven't found another I'm looking for. 216th_Jordan Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Thats with 0.8 gamma. Also the sun seems to be fairly low. The problem is that the maps are flat while the earth is not, so they need an artificial horizon. There are chances however that it will improve in the future. Right now what you can do is calibrate your monitor properly, most are way too high on brightness and contrast. Mine ist at about 50/50 right now for overall optimal display, but there are differences.
Uufflakke Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Isn't this topic very similar to the other one posted today? https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/26984-rendering-visibility-landscape/
deleted@31403 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 Can you guys post some screen shots to show us what you're seeing? I get the haze at far horizon but right below you.
Urra Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Ultimately for me I've noticed that it advantageous to take the pure white skin on planes every time even in summer maps because you blend right in with the haze when you are far away from a contact higher up, resulting in being harder to spot. There is no reason for summer camos currently for aircraft.
curiousGamblerr Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 There is no reason for summer camos currently for aircraft. There certainly is if you don't plan on going up high.
ShamrockOneFive Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I get the haze at far horizon but right below you. I compared yours to mine. It's pretty similar so I'm guessing its not a technical issue. The haze I don't mind so much...The summer time haze looks just like around here during most of the summer although some clearer days would be nice. Its similarly a mixed bag for fall and winter. There are close crystal clear days that might be nice to have sometimes.
