Gambit21 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 How does this functionality work? I mean...I don't see an MCU in the editor - does each airfield automatically have one? I don't see anything in the manual Jim - unless I'm missing it.
JimTM Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 See "Mark the Airfield with a Radio Homing Beacon" on pg. 58.
Gambit21 Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 Argh...how did I miss that. Thanks edit - I know how...it's not in my earlier version.
JimTM Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Argh...how did I miss that. Thanks edit - I know how...it's not in my earlier version. Get yourself a fresh one. It's changed a lot from the draft that I sent to you.
TempestV Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Do you have to link the Translator Icon to the beacon? Manual doesn't say anything about that.
JimTM Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) Do you have to link the Translator Icon to the beacon? Manual doesn't say anything about that. No, the icon translator is optional and can be used to mark the beacon on the map. I will update the manual to make these points clear. Edited December 29, 2016 by JimTM
TempestV Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Okay. Thanks. Great manual by the way. Covers a lot. I appreciate the effort.
No601_Swallow Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 While we're on the subject, Han recently said in an answer to a question that the ability to assign different channels to each NDB - and be able to tune the nav instruments in aircraft - is already in the game, but un-activated. He hurrumphed grumpily that mission builders aren't using the single activated channel correctly, so why activate something more "complex"? Perhaps lots of begging posts and questions to developers might persuade them to turn it all on? More navigation options would add another very welcome dimension to the sim, in my humble opinion! 2
=LG/F=Kathon Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) What servers Han flies on? TAW has NDB in it's missions. Don't know about others. I hardly believe that they put a lot of efforts to implement multi-channel NDB and then deliberately deactivated it. Edited December 29, 2016 by =LG=Kathon
TempestV Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Well if it is not on-please turn it on, Developers. Just flip the switch HAHAHAAH

I hardly believe that they put a lot of efforts to implement multi-channel NDB and then deliberately deactivated it. Well... From the horse's mouth! Yes, may be right after Kuban. Channel's in radio beacons are allready coded, and in radio finders too, but not used for now because even current 1-channel simple system is forgotten by MP mission authors. They do not set NDBs in their missions. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/7-questions-developers/?p=424319
