Congrats guys!

Still loving mine after quite a number of hours usage on it now.

In the MongoosT-50 Base manual (available only in Russian) they say that you can combine extensions, but only up to 150mm total length.

Never heard that before, I use the 225 extension on mine.

Posted

It would be nice to have that T50 Base manual translated into English!

I wonder how wrong it is to use the 225?  Ok if you're careful?  I have read a number of people doing it so hopefully, Virpil will offer a few sentences on this at some point.

Finally received mine yesterday. I had to chase the USPS guy down the street. He wasn't going to deliver the package just because there was a little bit of snow in front of my house.

We lost power (it won't be back for days) the same day i got the package. I must have done some horrible things in my previous life to deserve this.

Dang, that sucks! Hopefully your power company can get your service restored quicker then you say.

Apparently yesterday's storm wiped out power for 300K people in MA

Not laughing at you’re misfortune, mate. It’s just that  I’ve been paying attention to your T-50 saga.

Waiting on my stick to be released from customs at the moment, has been siting in customs for a week almost now. If anyone can share their mapping for the grip I'd be grateful (now waiting on the throttler to be released so i can finally complete my setup).

Posted

Just one rookie's mapping-  bear in mind I have a stand alone throttle and quadrant and use a shift button (pinky) to double my functions.

Double stage trigger stage one is nestled onto site, a little zoomed.  Stage two, fire.  Thumb is trackIr center which I do every 2.1 seconds.  Pinky button is shift.  (SvMapper program to accomplish.)  One hat is snap views.  One hat is functions for SP missions like pause, speed time, etc.  One hat is flight commands like attack nearest air, return to formation, or shoulder shoot off nearest player.  Top left button is reload (awaiting Flying Circus since ROF required constant reloading.)  Bottom right is snap view to gauges.  Top right is stop trackIR.  Trigger finger side button is maps and HUD on/off kind of stuff since its a slow to reach button.

I hope you like the grip as well as I do.

Received mine yesterday, ordered on 22 February and stayed in customs for a week... (paid a huge chunk for import tax too ffs...!!!). Only a couple of hours flying just to check things out but I must say it's a great stick and way better than my old Cougar. However, I'm still missing the rudder pedals and throttle so without these I can't really fly and enjoy.

I agree with all the above comments from the guys regarding the stick btw. Now can't wait for the throttle to be released.

Ordered one the 26th, sent in a request for a tracking number or status last Friday, now they're saying the order should be processed this week?  Really...

Posted

Thats not too bad honestly. Amazon and other giant middle man warehouses really skews public preciption on delievery times and what should be standard for ordering things from that SEARs catalog....I mean internet.

Back in the day people waited 6 months lol.

I just received my tracking number today!

Very excited.

Now awaiting that throttle.:)

Got a tracking number today, takes a good while, not a problem, but didn't see any warnings about a wait any where.  Be warned, you may have a wait, they're probably busy cranking out throttles.  Looking forward to trying it out, it comes highly recommended by guys I know and trust.

It is well worth the wait.

I'm torn between this and VKB MCG Pro....

The VKB Europe situation is really bothering.

I'd like to aim at a central mounted, extended version. What extension length do you guys use, what length would make for a best experience, if that question makes even sense, actuelly? :)

EDIT : my main usage would be warbirds and DCS helicopters, I'm looking for better precision & feeling in these, while having all the requested mappings for modern jet usage. I've a X55 currently, I would keep the throttle

I would highly recommend the Virpil T-50 along with the desk-mount and extension kit. I have been flying with my setup now for several months, and the smoothness and precision is just incredible.  The extension kit gives you three extensions, one each of 50mm, 75mm, and 100mm which can be interchanged to get the feel you prefer. Plus the desk-mount can be adjusted by raising/lowering the mount plate.

I settled on using 150mm of extension with the desk mount bracket in the lowest position. Keeps my arm basically parallel to the stick and feels the most comfortable to me.

It feels so natural and smooth, I could never go back to a desk top stick again. There is no telling how many hours I have in with this stick now.

Plus availability is a little better with the Virpil stick, usually lead time is between 2 and 4 weeks from date of order to receipt. Here lately from reports I have seen that is running closer to 4 weeks from date of order.  VKB tend to run in batch files,  and requires waiting for that next run.  I have a VKB Gunfighter Pro , have had for almost a year, still waiting on being able to get the new MCG Pro grip for it, so it still sits in it's box.

In fact I ordered both the Virpil and the VKB around the same time earlier last year, as mentioned I have been flying now with the Virpil for several months and absolutely love it!

The VKB offers an extension, but one extension one length. And no desk mount, at least not yet I understand they are working on one. Monster Tech offers a desk mount for it, but they are certainly pricey. They are great mounts though, I have two of them. Would want to get the extended Monster Tech Mount for the Gunfighter Pro with extension.

So basically you can get an all in one setup ready to go from Virpil within a reasonable amount of time. As far as quality of the Virpil and VKB sticks, I imagine they are both about on par with each other. Both have metal gimbals and independent axis. Both use cams. VKB has an friction dampener that is adjustable, Virpil has a couple of screws exposed at the top of the gimbal to allow adjusting tension of the springs. Also with the Virpil you get three sets of varying springs tension, and three sets of varying cams.

I settled on the soft center cams and soft springs in my Virpil stick.

Hope this helps,

Edit: I can also attest to the fact, that support from Virpil has been exceptional.

► VIRPIL Controls Developments 2018

As many of you have noted over the past few weeks, the VPC team have been rather quiet compared to usual - however, this is not due to us taking a break! We have been working on some very exciting developments ahead of the release of our upcoming product releases.

Introducing the Official VIRPIL Controls Production Factory

VPCFactory_01.png

Say hello to the brand new VIRPIL Controls production factory! In our endeavour to create the best flightsim controls available, we have been working behind the scenes to open our own production factory in Belarus. We will be able to control every aspect of prototyping and production including metalworking, plastic casting, electronics installation, mechanical assembly, testing and ordering.

This will ensure that we can maintain the highest production quality and speeds than previously possible!

VPCFactory_02.png

VPCFactory_03.png

Our factory is scheduled to open April 2018.

Introducing the VIRPIL Controls EU Official Webstore!

VPC-EUStore_01.png

Another new development that we’ve been working on behind the scenes is our much demanded, new VIRPIL Controls EU webstore.

Orders to our VPC EU webstore will be dispatched from our Lithuanian warehouse, with VAT and customs duty already included and will feature cheaper, and faster delivery to EU destinations via DPD.

We will also be accepting payment through PayPal and the usual online card methods through a secure online payment gateway.

We will announce the official opening date of the VPC EU Webstore in the near future!

What does this mean for our upcoming products?

Our VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle, VPC Constellation Delta Grip and VPC WarBRD are very close to official release - however, our main efforts have been devoted to the opening of our factory and EU webstore. We want to usher in a new era of VPC with these developments to ensure that we can provide the best experience possible for our customers!

Stay tuned for further news,

VPC Team

Congrats! These are great news for all sim fans.

I can't wait to get that throttle and some other bits. What's the link for your EU shop by the way ? Will we need to create a new/different account for it, or we can use the EU shop via our pre-existing account ?

The mailman brought my grip+base+extension set combo yesterday. Haven´t got time to test it in action yet, but the overall quality seems very high, loving it already. Hopefully I find time to set it up and test it soon :)

One question thought: is there any method to attach the base to floor or, to be precise, a wooden plate, were my pedals are also attached? Is it possible to remove the U-bracket, and replace it with some kind of L-shaped bracket? I know the manual states that you shouldn´t use the little screws in the bottom of the base, but only the U-bracket.

Luckily I bought desk mount too, and I`m perfectly happy with that quality product too, but I´d like to use as long extension as possible.

Posted

As long as you can rig a plate to mount to the same bracket the standard U-bracket does, you should  be fine I would think.

Definitely do not try to mount to those bottom screw holes.

Thanks for the answer. I´ll take a look.

Stick and stuff showed up yesterday, mounted and initial test flight tonight.  This stick is smooth and precise, it gives a completely different feel in VR, much more like flying an aircraft than pushing a sim object, and VR feels as if soaring through air.  Gunnery much more precise, excellent feel in the buttons and trigger, zero slop.  I mounted mine backwards, directly to my swiveling pit chair, one long extension.  Feels more like working an actual flight stick than a game device, I like it.

► VIRPIL Controls Q2 2018 - Project Update

In our previous announcement, we revealed our new official VIRPIL Controls production factory - over the previous 2 weeks, we have completed the design for the internal factory layout and have started to purchase the equipment necessary for production including; CNC machines, workstations, shelving systems for warehouse storage, plastic injection molding machines and other tools and accessories.

We have also started the hiring and training of qualified experts to operate the VIRPIL Controls factory. The team is now about 80% completed.

The most important upcoming date in Q2 2018 is 30th April - the opening of the assembly and electronics installation facilities.

Despite devoting a large portion of our effort and time opening the factory, we have not forgotten about the release of our upcoming products:

  • VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle

  • VPC Constellation Delta Grip

  • VPC WarBRD Grip and Base

The assembly of these devices will be implemented in our new factory.

The next date of interest is the 20th May - the long awaited release of these new VPC devices!

Finally - as previously announced, we have been working on opening our official VIRPIL Controls EU webstore.

All orders placed with our EU webstore will be dispatched from Lithuania, with VAT and customs already included. DPD will handle the shipment of all orders, and we expect the overall service will be cheaper and faster for our EU customers.

Payment will also be possible via PayPal and all standard online payment cards via a secure Payment gateway.

We also expect to open up our distribution network to include Amazon US in the Summer of 2018 to better serve US VIRPILs!

The VIRPIL Controls EU webstore is scheduled to open on 16th April and will also coincide with the opening of pre-orders for the VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle, VPC Constellation Delta Grip and VPC WarBRD Grip and Base.

All pre-orders will receive a discount of 10%, with existing VPC MongoosT-50 owners receiving an upgraded discount of 15%. Of course, all members of the VPC Founder’s Club will retain their 5% lifetime discount - please contact us with your existing VPCFC account details to transfer them to the new VIRPIL Controls EU webstore.

We have more exciting news to follow in Q2 2018 - stay tuned for future announcements!

Thanks,

VIRPIL Controls Team

Thanks for the update, much appreciated.

Will we get an email notification for the preorders ? Or when the EU shop goes live so we can place an order ?

I truly hope the EU store will be up and running soon, don't want to go through customs and import tax ever again (paid £80 import tax on the T-50 stick alone....). Eagerly waiting for the throttle and some accessories too (2 x covers, extensions and a desk mount).

Dang my flip down trigger just broke on the T-50.

I have always been pretty gentle with this thing, not much happy at the moment. I saw on another forum a day or so ago where someone else's did the same thing, and I was thinking I was lucky it had not happened to me, now it did.

Had a great Career going to, was so frustrated I just exited out, now pilot is lost. Double whammy.

That sucks, dburne! were you using it a lot? I have bombs and rockets  mapped to it so I don't really use it that often but that is really scary.

Yep, I had machine guns assigned to the main trigger, and cannons to the flip down trigger.

That was one of the features ( besides metal gimbal) that attracted me to this stick, having two independent triggers.

Perhaps they did not do any longevity testing I don't know, but it broke clean off and I never pulled hard on it.

I do however use the stick on almost a daily basis.

I guess I can use the grip from my original Mongoose stick that I had messed up, but still is that going to happen again...

Edit: Well that may be out, can't find the first grip - worried it got tossed with the gimbal. Great.

I was having a look over on the Virpil catalogue on the newer T-50 CM grip:

From the product description:

  • Russian Button Labels
  • Remodeled Brake Lever
  • Remodeled Flip Trigger
  • Remodeled Buttons
  • Black Hats, Main Trigger and Wrist Rest

Now what I would be curious about, is how the flip trigger is remodeled?

Could it have been made maybe more durable over the original T-50 grip's flip trigger?

I have t50cm and broke that flip trigger so whatever was changed, it did not improve situation.

Ah well good to know as I was considering getting one, no reason to now then.

That is too bad, how long did you have yours before that breaking?

Mine is around 6 months I think.

Wonder how difficult will be to replace?

Since January. So about 3 months.

It's not, it's a simple element held in place by a screw. Remove the screw, stick new trigger and then screw it back.

Ok good to know as my eyesight is not the best. So grip does not have to be taken apart then?

Nope. Only that small screw located on the right front side of the head of the grip. So it's easier to remove that I thought.

That at least is good news, thanks.

Perhaps Virpil should consider sending out a few of those triggers if this is going to be an ongoing thing.
