dburne Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Thanks! i don't really have any of the right tools to do this. VPC was very quick to answer and they have been very responsive both on Saturday and today (Sunday). I'll just send it back to them before I break anything. It is disheartening to see even still today this issue is still there. I hate you are having to go through it and hope they get you sorted ASAP. 2

I hate you are having to go through it and hope they get you sorted ASAP. Well looks like we got the last batch with this issue so hopefully going forward the problem will be solved. I don't even want to take my base apart to look... Edited January 21, 2018 by 6./ZG76_Archie
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Any way after few days of flaying I found that I prefer desktop joystick. These designs for extension and center mount is not for me :/
216th_Jordan Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Dang, J_M. I could feel your frustrations having to wait that long, and now this. There are inexpensive soldering irons that are available on various thrift store. I see them at 99 Cents store and Dollar Tree ever so often. Most definitely, at Harbor Freight. They could be had for around $3 - $5. I use them when working on guitars to soften the glue if bridge thimbles need to be pulled out. Just like this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/30-watt-lightweight-soldering-iron-69060.html Yeah stuff like that works wonders, but once a screw is wrecked you really need the right tools and expansive ones to not damage the parts. Especially as you have a thread for the screw inside the metal base of the T-50, if you destroy that you destroy the whole units function. :/ Well good thing VPC sorted that threadlock thing out yet. Never had any problem with blue threadlock.

These designs for extension and center mount is not for me :/I hate center mount! But you don't have to do it in center.. How do you sit? Maybe the joystick is too low? It was too low for me in the beginning. I have it off to my right hand side now (as with a desktop stick) and the hand hold of the stick is only slightly lower than my shoulder (5-10cm), now it feels like desktop a bit again when it was too low I was constantly having pain in my arm.. Looks like this: Edited January 22, 2018 by Blue_Jordan
Archie Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 (edited) Yesterday was the first time I actually got to spend a couple of hours using the stick, online in an IL-2, and it's fantastic. My flying has improved 100% already and the CH Fighterstick I was using before is not in the same league. Its height is as close to a real stick as I can get it and I find it very comfortable to use. I'm using the 225mm extensions and have not adjusted the stick in any way. It just works perfectly for me. Now just have to wait a couple of weeks for my Crosswinds to turn up! BP_Lizard Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Mine is already in Noo Yawk. \m/( > < ) \m/
Jade_Monkey Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Hope you get it fast! Despite not having luck with my cam screws, it is a great stick. Having it desk mounted instead of on top of the desk is already a huge improvement in comfort as your arms rest much more comfortably and you can twist the grip at an angle so it lines up with your arm (less work for your wrist). The sensor accuracy is incredibly better than my X55, it makes you think that they updated the FM in the game.
Sokol1 Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 A different way to fit VPC deskmount in "cockpits" for side use. 1
BP_Lizard Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Hope you get it fast! Got it today. Man, this is a tall stick.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 (edited) I will try to sell mine. I think I can't give it back because only in EU i have 14 days to give back if bought by Internet. Edited January 24, 2018 by 307_Tomcat
Archie Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 What don't you like about it Tomcat? I'm sure you will sell it easy enough with the month waiting times.

VIRPILControls Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 Hey guys - I know some of you have been waiting for this, our Amazon EU stock has been restocked! 3
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Hey guys - I know some of you have been waiting for this, our Amazon EU stock has been restocked! That's some great news.
Retnek Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Hey guys - I know some of you have been waiting for this, our Amazon EU stock has been restocked! SNAP! Thx for the hint, now let's see what you have done!
Archie Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 I think it still works out a bit cheaper buying direct, especially as it seems mine got through customs without being noticed...
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 (edited) Finally changed my roll cam to hard center by drilling screws and using screw extractor also make new mount to place base closer to the desktop mount. Now I'm happy with ergonomic and it's cams/springs setup. It look like I will keep it :-) Accurancy of this joystick is outstanding. Acemaker it is ;-) Edited January 28, 2018 by 307_Tomcat 1
No_85_Gramps Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Glad to hear you got it set-up to your liking. With the hard center roll cam how is the feel on the outer edges of movement?

1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Glad to hear you got it set-up to your liking. With the hard center roll cam how is the feel on the outer edges of movement? Same - without tension increasing. Congrats nice job! Thanks
No_85_Gramps Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Same - without tension increasing. Thanks Hmmm, I may have to give that combo a try.
Sokol1 Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Glad to hear you got it set-up to your liking. With the hard center roll cam how is the feel on the outer edges of movement? In il2.ru a guy post his impressions comparing GunfighterxMongoosT - althoug not in ideal conditions, VKB with 20 cm extension, VPC with 7.5cm, so the leverage result in different force at grip. VirPil Adjusting the load is carried out in the widest range. He flew a lot on the Yak-52, also attracted to the configuration of the former Su-24 pilot with a touch on the Yak-52 and the current pilot of the Airbus 320 series, which also has a large raid on the Yak-18T. As a result, the following was obtained: the free center, the red spring on the pitch - is tightly tightened, the black spring roll is fully tightened. A load approximately corresponding to the flight to the Yak-52, Yak-18T at a speed of 250 km / h. I measured the perceived loads. In pitch: a deviation of 30% - 1.5 kg, 90% - 3.8 kg, In roll:- 30%- 0.8 kg, 90% - 1.9 kg. Despite the free center CAM, the load is well perceptible near the center. VKB. I came to the disappointing conclusion that VKB Gunfighter Pro should exist only as non PRO (witout extension). The loading system, despite the dampers, is not designed for such a total length of the device (extension cord + handle). Dampers practically do not change the situation. Putting CAM # 30 spring first - not that. Has returned to #10 CAM. On both axes there are two springs # 50 each! Measured the load in the geometric center of the MCG handle : At a deviation from the center by about 30% - 300 g, With a deviation of 90% - 1.8 kg. Near the center there is no load at all, that is, near the center the handle is openly hanging out. A bit sad, but as it is.
BP_Lizard Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I also changed mine to a hard center roll cam. Pitch cam is stock and soft springs on both. Contrary to what Virpil told me when I contacted them when I ordered the stick, it still came with the red Locktite. Here’s a tip that guarantees a fairly easy extraction: USE A SOLDERING IRON TO LOOSEN THE LOCKTITE. Soldering iron is less than five bucks. Put the tip on the head of the screw and heat it for about five minutes. The seal will break and extraction will be fairly easy. No drilling. Another thing to be careful with is when you disconnect the USB wire from the PCB. The wires are as delicate as unicorn hair. I always pull out the molex connector by the plastic part and never by the wires. Yet I still managed to break the black wire. It snapped at the crimp point of the connector. I contacted Virpil support but got no response.
No_85_Gramps Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 A soldering iron is my weapon of choice. Going to give the soft-center cam some more time before deciding. Thanks.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Lizard, try contacting support via Facebook. They respond instantly there
dburne Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Odd Virpil is usually very responsive... Hope it gets sorted for you asap.
BP_Lizard Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Thanks. I tried messaging them on FB as well. Still waiting for a reply. They’re probably terribly busy.
Archie Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Thanks. I tried messaging them on FB as well. Still waiting for a reply. They’re probably terribly busy. I get the impression that there is one English speaking guy and if he's not around then communication stops.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 There is also the engineer available via Skype. I will send you the details @Lizard.
BP_Lizard Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Thank you very much, Red_Wolf. I have a temporary fix so hopefully they respond soon. I get the impression that there is one English speaking guy and if he's not around then communication stops. I guess so.
Lobstrosity Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I haven't been getting a response from VirPil support either. I tried replying to a previous ticket and opening a new one. I also tried going directly to the engineer on Skype. No response.
Jade_Monkey Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) I sent my base back to replace the screws and cams and only got a cryptic automated message. That was 2 weeks ago. Edit: I emailed back to one of my old support email chains and i got an instant response. Edited February 6, 2018 by Jade_Monkey
Archie Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I sent my base back to replace the screws and cams and only got a cryptic automated message. That was 2 weeks ago. I love the stick, but their customer interaction lately could certainly do with some work.
No_85_Gramps Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I love the stick, but their customer interaction lately could certainly do with some work. Agreed. Don't know what's up, usually they have been very responsive to their customers.
dburne Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I sent my base back to replace the screws and cams and only got a cryptic automated message. That was 2 weeks ago. That is disheartening. Hope you get some info soon. Things have certainly been quiet on the Virpil front of late...
No_85_Gramps Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) Their facebook page has been updated within the last hour. The throttle is off to production! Good news on that front. Edited February 6, 2018 by Gramps
