Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I've been observing that no matter if wind set, trim set, or engine working or stopped, looking from a rear view the rudder of the Ju-87 is always deflected right. Is this a feature of the real aircraft ? I don't mean the vertical fin, but the rudder itself.
=TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 no it's not i dont have a pic here but my Rudder is centered (except when i push the pedal)
SuperCossack Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 i have noticed that also jcomm been like that for as long as i remember not sure why only on ju-87 i dont fly ju-87 very much in bos and am not very familiar with the real aircraft
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Guess it's to counter Prop Torque.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) That it is meant to counter prop effects I am sure about. My only question is why the rudder is already deflected even when there is no propwash or significant wind "washing" that control surface. A trim tab, will make it "become alive" like in other models when there is enough propwash or relative wind, other aircraft use asymmetric or canted vertical fins, but I am asking if this is really a feature of the real Ju-87 - having the rudder always deflected by default to the right ? =TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 I don't mean the vertical fin, but the rudder itself. OK what are you lot talking about?? The Verticle Stabilizer (the part that does not move) Or The Rudder Plane/Panel. (the part that moves left and right with foot pedals) Like in the pic Below Its an Optical Illusion The Rudder is Straight the Verticle Stabilizer however has a few Degrees of Right Incidence Angle in order to correct for torque This give the look as tho rudder is not straight.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 I'm talking about THIS, and AFAIK, if a fin is canted, the rudder in it's neutral position will be aligned with it...
Matt Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 (edited) The center position of the rudder was 3°30' offset to the right. I haven't measured it ingame, but it looks correct to me. Edited December 29, 2016 by Matt
Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Thx Matt! That must be it! Great to know it's accurate in IL.2 :-)
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 It seems to have Fixed Spring Loaded Trim for the Rudder.
Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 It seems to have Fixed Spring Loaded Trim for the Rudder. Well observed Klaus! Thx for the additional note.

Guest deleted@50488 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 sorry guys for my stupid posts. Seems the "Viewer" is useless for checking plane stuff like that.. Maybe ill delete all my above post Feeling like an idiot I feel even more idiot because, after all this time, I didn't even know there was a viewer available in BoS ! So, your post actually revealed something very important and unknown to me ! Don't mind - I do that almost everyday - worst result is when it happens with wife - they don't forgive distractions.... :-)
216th_Jordan Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Nothing bad about asking questions, there is a lot of stuff we don't know.
