Logitech Extreme 3D problem, please help.

Hello.
I have been flying with this joystick since ages, just perfect.
Drivers are updated, windows "feels" it, active and coherent with input data, but as soon as I enter Sturmovik the joistick just looks invisible. No reaction, no input, nothing. Example: in settings, where one can select feedback and test axis response, there is no reaction at all, while keyboard gives input, and xbox360 controller works as well.

I tried everything I know, but now I am getting desperate.
Any ideas please?

Thank you very much, any suggestion is more than welcome.

Up again, sorry and hopeful someone can help me out of this mess. It's ridicolous: the Logitech works flawlessly with my other games, as usual. It's benn working for years with any flight sim, including the other sturmovik titles and, of course, BoS-Bom

Reactive to input settings and curves in BoM, everything is set up as usual, but when I start flying the Joistick looks completely dead. Next to it, a xbox360 pad is plugged it into the USB. No nedd to say it works perfectly (but I hate flying with a pad)
Yes, I already tried unplugging the xbox pad to prevent any kind of conflict. No good.

Any ideas? really frustrated, here.
Thank you, guys...

I use one and it is fine unless it is not plugged in when you start a game. Then the computer can't find it.

You did select the joystick control option and not mouse control... like in here https://il2sturmovik.com/news/196/update-1105/

Is it Windows 10 ? You probably need to give some more information for people to be able to help. (not necessarily me...)

...good luck.

Salutations,

Can you 'calibrate' the joystick in windows? If you can, it 'should' show up for use in the game.

If not, calibrate it and try to make it the number one controller, then try to run the game again.

Thank you for the reply!!!!

Yes I can, know what is strange?

I also can calibrate it in game (options, settings, dead zone, etc)

But as soon as I fly, the Logitech looks dead for the plane...

Im loosing my mind on this

Try removing all 'other' controllers, except your mouse and keyboard of course. Also, I assume you have the 'joystick selected as your input device' under settings?

Secondly, try a different 'usb' port on your computer.

Finally, if you have access, hook up a different joystick and confirm that it works or doesn't.

It seems very strange that the game detects it but no response in a mission (if I understand you right)......

You don't have autopilot or level flight on ? (shift a or ctrl a)

You can edit input curves in the key mapping settings in mission..Does it show up there as well ?

Maybe look at your startup configuration file (Il2  Battle of Stalingrad/data/startup) and make sure "mouse_plane_control = 0"

...Otherwise maybe it is broken... :(

tried removing the xbox pad , but nothing. Also, joystick and xpad used to live together, plugged, naver had ANY problem.

Also tried all the 4 ports on my pc, nothing.

Not broken, it works flawlessly on any other game, and yes you're right, game options detect it, I can see and edit curves, but in-mission it is dead

Hell, this is crazy

Are you using TrackIR or other such devices?

Nothing...

And what makes me astonished is: I absolutely changed nothing in my setup. The usual xpad, my beloved Logitech Extreme of course, the usual USB devices (a couple hard drives) same windows version, no new hardware, nothing!

The only changes have been the last couple game updates.

I meant 'game options' once you are in the mission...although I'm not sure why that would make any difference apart from show whether your joystick is still being detected after the mission has started.

Maybe try switching to mouse control see if that works and switch it back....if it doesn't work there must be something wrong with the installation of the game. If it does work in mouse control it may force your comp to re find it (maybe).

I guess you have already checked/validated your game files....

Sorry....no really good ideas....mine is working.

Exactely, I don't know what may change between opening settings from main menu or from inside a mission, but I'll try.

I already have tried switching input type from joystick to mouse and back to joystick.

It's an awful enigma, seriously.

Thank you very much anyway

Hi,

Although drastic... perhaps a 'complete game deletion' and re-load might correct the problem.

Grasping a straws here.

Reported problem:   I can generate a mission just fine and the game launches and load the mission but my custom controls are gone..... Though not the same problem you are having... it might be related. See below.

There seems to be a new bug in 2.006 patch. To fix it - when the mission is launched hit ESC and go to the "Settings" -> "Key mapping" menu. Then quit all menus and get back to the game (you don't even need to change anything in the key bindings or hit OK button - just exit the screen). Now all your custom key bindings will be working as expected.

Anything new to report?

If not and If you have the Nvidia Experience... try deleting it and afterwards check out your joystick. It has been know to cause some weird problems.

Hello Thad, and thank you for your interest and all the aces here for the support and suggestions.

I had to reset all my presets and patiently rebind them all. Now the game is working; I will probably never understand the reasons behind this awful bug/problem, but oh well! I can fly and have fun again!

Thank you, I really apreciated and sorry about the delay of my reply.

Almost 2 years later, my problem is back. I did nothing in particular, just neglected Sturmo for a few months. My logitech is not working, the game doesn't see it, aka it is unplayable (I have a Xbox 360 controller too, but hate it)
I don't know how to get rid of this thing.

Did you try your previous fix? ("reset all my presets and patiently rebind them all") Some of the patches or Windows updates since your last run may have re-set your assignments / device IDs...

The directinput guids don't change.  When you disconnect and reconnect game controllers the order in which they get enumerated can change.  Unfortunately joystick control assignments seem to be bound to elements of an array of game controllers and not their guids.
