Hi Taffy, I did a Clean Install when I moved to windows 10. As far as I remember, all you have to do is Log into your IL2  Account and Download the Launcher. Then Run Launcher.  If I remember correctly, once Bos was Downloaded, everything  that I purchased was there..Hope this helps mate !

Never did clean install since open alpha, just copy and past to new storage and install necesery 3rd party apps. Only one time i had to del update folder (game crashed during update process) to keep it going. If files are not corrupt/replaced/in conflict (and you don't have clue what to do) there is no need to clean install this is not win 98 ;)

Go to your profile in:

https://il2sturmovik.com/account/

Press the "Download" button and install. There is only one installation that install all the content. The content is unlocked for you when you login after the installation based on your purchased content. The installation is the same if you have everything or if you have the most basic package. Its your login to the server that make the purchased content available.

Sorry Tomcat. I think this is BS.  This Copy and Paste can Cause more Dramas . CLEAN INSTALL and Setup up all your Options/Controls again. DONT carry CRAP from your Old OS to your New OS.

Taffy, I Have never had a BOS Crash. Clean Install/Reboot/ Login/reboot/Settings/ Reboot...and PLAY !

Trustme ~S~

Thanks Jaydee, good common sense info.

I would also agree that if you are going to start with a fresh operating system, a total clean BoS install makes sense.

Copy paste also is painless but you get what you have, and never know with all the major updates we have had if there may be a file error hiding somewhere. A clean install has occasionally sorted peoples issues, and improved performance when problems were hard to troubleshoot

personally I would also install BoS outside of program files, this can avoid many little irritations people sometimes get, with games files becoming read only etc.etc.

Win 10 has caused me personally no more issues than when compared to Win 7, there are however a lot more options to make it 'look' how you want and it will take a little familiarisation...but that is progress lol (and whatever people say) keep it up to date  :P

Cheers Dakpilot

It is not BS , why - becouse we are talking about working copy of the game - same state which you gona seek after reinstall. The game with all mods, skins ,settings already made by years of playing! Btw game do not carry crap if you don't have it in crap state in first place. It's nonsense.

That what i was saying if you have some unresolvet issues etc and do not know how to fix them, reinstall could be option to try. Edited by 307_Tomcat

Just one more question regards fresh reinstall, will i have to reset all my chosen settings, TrackIR/ and joystick buttons ?

Jeff you should make a copy of your input file.  You'll find it in the game files in the Data folder.  When your game is reinstalled on your new operating system you can copy and paste it back into the Data folder.

This way you will retain all your joystick and key settings.

OK Tomcat, I am Sorry for BS Phrase. My apologies ~S~.

When I spoke about a Clean Install for W10 I meant everything. Not just BOS !... Clean Install of ALL Drivers, Everything !

That is How I have Done all My Clean Installs....

he is right..

Upgrading windows from one OS to another is also NOT a fresh install..

Only way to do a "fresh install" is an entire C drive format and partition table reset even then some old files can still be found and even viruses can still causes issues after a full format even a "zero wipe"
