I like War Thunder... but IL2 is the better game.

I Watched the whole thing. Very good tactics, seems he understands all the fundamentals of flying that 109, which will make him deadly in ANY sim using it.  but man its ARCAAAAAAAAAAAAADE!  not arcahd  lol  I know its a language thing.

To be fair, it's a loan word in the first place and "arcahd" is closer to the original pronunciation ;)http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=arcade

yeah, like I said its a language thing.  Still a great video series, I look forward to his BoS versions later next year!   :joy:

Hey Rich , Thank you for share a good stuff.

the game may look like arcade + simulation.
but the players are not.
some from new hand
some from skill player
some from old hand with 10 years of expereince (like il2)

skill player eat a new hand player
old hand guys eat the skill player
that become cycle of fun

Trees look nice in that game.

they are about to change the leveling system to a WoT esque type of grind where you have to research certian parts of certain a/c to unlock the next bird. a major change from before where once you reached a certain level, you had access to those birds...

Hopefully Gaijin will manage to navigate all the traps and pitfalls left in the War Thunder Beta. There is a real Crapstorm going on right now imo because Gaijin hasn't learned the lesson I think 777 Studios has- namely the importance of communication to your customerbase. Over on their website, the initial post for the upcoming v 1.37 patch was (to be nice) poorly written and left a lot to be desired from my view as a new WT player. Problem number one was their post raised more questions than it answered, and unfortunately there has been NO followup posting by them. Speculation abounds and the patients seem to be running the asylum over at WT right now.

What a bloody mess! I want to like these guys and their product, but they aren't making it very easy at the moment. Still, it looks fabulous, performs pretty well for a server-based game and has a lot of promise what with over 200 FM changes coming with 1.37. We shall see. I only play the mid-level "historical" as I am new and learning the game. Still fun despite all the issues.

I want these guys to succeed because it would mean more eventual players in IL2: BoS down the line.

That's bad. I was like sick of grinding and quit playing over a month ago after reaching Tier 10 for all nations except Japan.

What about World of Warplanes? lol

well in all fairness i havent seen the patch yet, its on the dev server now and should be live very very soon.

Can say that I came from War Thunder and ended up here (primarily a FRB flyer). It's a fun game and its multiplayer aspect is something BoS should emulate.

well I tihnk i would like WT a ton more if...you know...the fm's and dm's were accurate. particularly on the american line. its utterly ridiculous that the only nation that has accurate fm's is the germans while the rest of the flyers have been waiting for a year to be able to compete. a 109 or a zero diving with a p51 or p47 is just one of the many examples of my issue with the game, as is the snap death spin i always get in a p63...just a couple of examples of issues with the title

With that said i think i will like mp in BoS much more because i think the fm's will be dead on. I dont nessicarily mind an uneven playing field if the fm's are accurate. when they are way off as they are in WT, it gets under my skin something fierce.

There is a fairly close parallel to this in Baseball games (which also is a passion of mine). In the hardcore simulation corner you have Out of the Park Baseball, made by a small team of Germans that takes the cake in customization and depth. From the birth of Baseball to Modern day, replay of historical seasons, fictional leagues... you name it, chances are you can do it with OOTP. Markus Heinsohn is an amazing guy and his team is special. I always kid him that it took a German to make a proper American Baseball game!

On the other end of the spectrum you have MLB XX: The Show for the Playstation exclusively (a bit of a shame really). Like most console games it is aimed at a different audience, but to me it is just as impressive in its own ways as OOTP is to "statheads". From single season play to Franchise, Road to the Show (create your own player and take him from AA to the big show) and lots more. It's a hell of a lot of fun and looks to be even better on the PS4 for this coming Spring.

Both great games. Now, granted, WT and IL2 are both still in the early stages of development, but I think like OOTP and MLB: The Show, they complement each other and both offer something similar yet different in the approach. More chances to introduce gamers to flight games is a good thing.

I think part of the issue lies with the type of game. WT is a free-to-play that needs to have lots and lots of aircraft from multiple nations in order to make the game "work". That's a LOT of flight models to get right and no easy feat. Just ask 777 how long it takes to get just one correct, let alone close to one hundred.

In some ways we are comparing apples to oranges when comparing the two. Doesn't make it any easier to deal with the shortcomings of WT, agreed!

I played a lot of WT hb/frb. I don't think the realistic mode of that game will ever be right, it takes low priority every patch. Even though a simmer will be disgusted, it's still fun to play and simply enjoy mowing down noobs with the newest ufo flight model. Fresh from gaijin ufo factory, guaranteed a new one 'by accident' every major patch.

yep, they have the flavor of the month issue that nearly every ill conceived mmo has. Thats not to say WT is ill conceived, not at all. It is a fantastic idea. But unless they hold to the standards they advertise (historically accurate sim), this will be a continual problem that they will never fully get out of the rut

Excellent video. As a FRB player in WT though (and a noob) the thing that I take away from the video is not the tactics, which I sort of already knew - it's that he can pick up/track targets when he goes vertical, which I have severe difficulty doing. This is generally why I try to avoid severe out of plane manuvers, because I will probably lose sight of the target and then he'll get away, or kill me. Need to get better at this, not sure how though.

fly a fw, p-51 or something with perfect rear visibility like that. or, stick your head through the glass of the 109

put your face up to the screen where you can see all the pixels (serious)

What does that have to do with the trees?

Oh yeah! Ape of The Year is a great Youtube flight sim film maker.  :big_boss: I really like his Emil antics. He knows his way around his machine and he really digs his machine, too. You have to like the passion he puts into his flight sim hobby, right down to his Youtube profile picture.  I hope he gets just as passionate about the BOS F-4 and BOS G-2. I haven't watched his War Thunder movies, though. As far as watching War Thunder videos, I really like Isida's videos. Isida also makes really cool Rise of Flight videos and now IL2 BOS videos. I hope that Ape of the year and Isida make a lot of IL2 BOS videos in the future. Since they both love the BF-109, they should team up and make movies together!

:salute: MJ

Gaijin lost me after they dumped WoP and came up with WT...
