Crash on first mission of BOM

I recently bought BOM, after owning BOS for 2 years without playing much due to not liking the sim as much as the old IL2 series.

Today, I thought I'd try BOM for the first time.  I get into the first mission, but when I try an intercept mission, the game suddenly freezes and crashes to desktop when I fire on an enemy bomber.   This has happened twice in row.

 

My system is:

 

Windows 10

i5 4670

16Gb RAM
2 x 7800Ti in SLI (latest drivers)

Track IR 5

Saitek X52 Pro

Saitek Rudder pedals

 

Is there anything obvious I'm missing?  I've enabled multi-GPU in the options.  Any help would be appreciated.

Latest drivers for GTX780Ti have issues with high demand programs, can sometimes help to underclock or increase voltage

 

but best known fix is the older drivers

I stripped out my current driver, and did a fresh install of the recommended driver.  BOM works beautifully now - I absolutely love it!
