JG27*Kornezov Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 The advanced flight model of il2 makes possible to make more use of aerobatic stunts in dogfight. Mostly as last ditch maneuver. In this video I show a snaproll with bf 109 f4.
JG27*Kornezov Posted December 24, 2016 Author Posted December 24, 2016 Thank you. It is a delicate maneuver, you just can't snap the rudder and elevator. Some trial and error are necessary.
curiousGamblerr Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Nice! Love doing this in the I-16... it's just not always intentional
JG27*Kornezov Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) It is a fast last ditch deceleration maneuver. I find that it is best implemented in 109 f4, when you start first the skid and mask it with opposite aileron. After the skid I pull gently but firmly the stick until the machine starts the snap. It does normally 3/4 of a roll, controls are at neutral in order to regain control. From 500 km/h I am to 280 km/h in a matter of few seconds without powering down. Also I think it is best used when the bandit is close to you, if he is away behind me I present him slow target with no energy. So this is an alternative for making him overshoot. The normal snap roll uses simultaneous action of rudder and aileron. So this is a variation of the snap roll. If this is executed at lower speeds you may find yourself at stall speeds (even lower) close to the ground. An additional problem is that the roll is so fast that you use sight of the bandit.
