Game launches but view falls back to desktop

Hi all,

 

After the new patch I had to install  SP1 and platform update kb2670838 on my Win7 machine.

But now when I Launch the game from the launcher window I see a dark grey screen with the text "loading please wait" for a few seconds and then it disapears and shows the desktop, however with no mouse movements.

In the task bar, I see the icon of the launcher and the one of the game, but even trying to swich between them does not get into the game.

 

Anybody with the same issue?

 

my system:

GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Processeur AMD Fx 8320  8 core

16 GB Ram

Track IR 5

Logitech G940

I have the exact same issue as Schallmoser and have sent an email to support as he was directed to do. Others have also reported this issue.

 

I Immediately received this response which mustbe an auto response since it is not consistent with the situation I outlined. Windows 7 says I do have build SP1 7601 and KB2670838. ,

The message says that you need to upgrade your operating system to build 7601 and install operating system updates KB2670838.

In case you cannot perform these actions by using native operating system update process, you should contact the Publisher or vendor support for your operating system.

 

My issue is:

 

After the 2.006 update BOS no longer works (it ran fine before the update). It appears I have SP1 but didnt see kb2670838 in the update history on my Win7 machine. I downloaded it but when I tried to run it a message comes up saying its already on my computer. I checked dxdiag which indicates DX 11 is installed

 

When I Launch the game from the launcher I see a dark grey IL2 screen with the text loading please wait for a few seconds and then it disappears and shows the desktop, however the mouse and keyboard do not work. In the taskbar, I see the icon of the game. I have to go to task manager where it says BOS is running. I shut the game down (end task) and the mouse and keyboard work again and the game closes. My pc is:

I7 3820 @ 4.3

EVGA FTW 970GTX (344.60 driver)

16 MB RAM

CH Flight Stick, pedals and throttle

 

I read every post about issues with the update but find nothing more to do than what I have already done. No other issues with the pc or other games including CLOD. DXdiag says no problems with Dx11 and at least one other game I have using DX11 runs fine. I am trying to be patient and appreciate the Dev's work. Please help!

Hi everybody,

 

I finally have found a solution:

I completely uninstalled all nvidia drivers and software.

Then I manually downloaded the latest driver package for my card (version 376.33) from nvidia download site and installed it.

After reboot, the game launches fine and runs without problems

I was really surprised how smooth it runs now compared to the old version, especially when using TrackIR intensively in a dogfight with many planes!

My deepest thanks to you Schallmoser for posting the solution. I was using an older driver (344.60) which worked great in both BOS and CLOD but would not run BOS after the update. The newest Nvidia driver did it for me too. The update is awesome!
