Ju 52 Throttleaxis issue

Is there anyone out there, flying the Ju52 actually with 3 seperate throttleaxis?

Well i tried to and i built with warthog hotas something, which would allow me just that (and i even gained a fourth one, should there be any 4 mots in the future).

BUT!

If you fly 2 Mots, you would have to assign axis 1 to the left throttle and axis 2 to the right one, for you to operate the left engines with the left throttle, like you would do in reallife.

Now the devs thought, that counting from left onwards would mean for the Ju52, that left engine is axis 1, mid engine is axis 2 and  thrid engine is axis 3. Thats not a bad thought and would work IF it would'nt conflict with the 2 mots! That way the right 2 mot engine would have to be axis 3 and not 2. But as this was probably not thought of, you end up with the problem that you cant control the 2 mainengines (left and right) with one hand.

For example for taxiing you need only the 2 mainengines, letting the center one idle. As things currently are, you cant access both engines with one hand, therefore u must set the first engine to desired RPM and then switch to the next one.

A solution would be to swap the axisassignments 2 and 3. But then you would have the same problem again in the 2 mots.

Maybe it would be nice to make for the Ju52 seperate configentrys for buttonmapping, so it doesnt interfere with the other planes. Or to let the other planes use engine 1 and 3 instead of 1 and 2.

What i would prefere the most would be a dcs like approach, where you config every plane independently. more work, but no problems on the long run.

(hope you could follow my explanations and it is somewhat clear what the problem is - it doesn't apply for throttlequadrantusers, but for people which especially for the new engine procured another, seperate throttle)

Pictures tell more than 1000 words, so long story short:

Right now i use the right throttlecontroller for the left engine and the center one and the right engine is controlled with the outer throttle. So i cant control the outer engines simultaneously.

It's already a known *issue. It's up to the developers to change it at this point.

*it's not really an issue but a design choice

I would hope for a separate plane setup as I have the Saitek throttle quadrant. (3 throttles) and it works great.  For the twins I have the left (1) center (2) and right (prop pitch).  Now with the 52 I added eng # 3 to the right throttle and it does not conflict as the 52 has no prop pitch.

I tried to doubleassign axis, so both left throttles would work as number 1. Tried it in the ju88 and it didn't work. Hopefully they will deliver a solution.

I have the Saitek throttle quadrant along with my X-56 HOTAS (has two throttles), and I was trying to figure this out, too. My setup would be to use the throttle quadrant for the three separate engine throttles and the two throttles on the X-56 for mixture and radiator. I quickly ran into that problem when I switched to another plane where I usually have the X-56 as the main engine throttle; the setup just doesn't work. I've had to create separate "input" folders, however it's a little clunky in that I have to rename the folders before launching the game.

Hopefully we will get a solution for this.

What are you guys with 2 throttles doing?

What are you guys with 2 throttles doing?

I just mapped engine 3 to throttle 2, so the center and right engines are controlled together by my right throttle. This means I have to use the toe brake buttons to brake and can't taxi historically unfortunately.

This setup means differential thrust obviously doesn't work (or at least not symmetrically) so it's very good the 52 doesn't taxi like the 110 or it would be nearly impossible to control.

Still racking my brain and wondering if I can leverage the X-55 software to make this easier. But without switching controls everytime I use the 52, or breaking my two engine taxiing, this is the best I've been able to do.

Thanks

I'm surprised we can't choose our own mapping in the settings - thus mapping 1 and 3 to one throttle.

I Put 'ctrl' on a switch and have engine 1 and 3 on my 2 throttle axis.

For twinengine I use 'shift' on a switch with the 2 throttle axis for engine 1 and 2.

On normal flight throttle 1 controlls all engines throttle and throttle 2 controls all engines rpm.

Lucky me I have CH quadrant with 6 levers. It would be nice to be able to assign the engines to the desired engine control slot for those with only twin/split throttle.

IF you don't need force feedback you can use this

https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/26438-found-small-joystick-software-might-be-interesting/

I have a Ch quadrant and I had same problem with assignments, so I made two mapings for my axis trough the app that change the order of them when I fly a 2engine bird and second one for Ju52.

So for a 2 eng. axis 1 to 4 are used for prop pitch rads etc., but 5 and 6 for throtle of eng.1 (axis 5) and eng. 2 (axis 6).

If I map axis 4 for engine 3 it's messed up cause you ll have

Ax4 (eng 3) which is on the right! Ax5 (eng 1) That's ok and Ax6 (eng 2) which is on the left

But through the app you can map them like this and with a second mode you swap their order to

Ax5 Ax6 Ax4

Where... why... what? What did you originally buy that for?
