II./JG27_Rich Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) To me this is great news. I hope it's done by a European production company. It will all be about Charlie if America gets involved and the book is 75% Franz. What a fantastic book it is.Marseille Rodel Galland Trautloft Just about every famous Western Ace you can think of Franz had dealings and great friendships with. The B-17 encounter is only part of the great story. Musulinies ass=Italian tinned beef. Just about fell out of the chair when I read that Edited December 1, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich 2
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) Also the way the book is written it's like reading a screenplay or a novel almost. The only trouble I see is the length of the thing. Mini series lenghth. At least 3 hours. Edited December 1, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich
1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 It will all be about Charlie if America gets involved and the book is 75% Franz. Yeah we don't need another "Redtails" movie Amazon has the hard cover for 16 bucks.
TheBlackPenguin Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I've recently read and listened to the Higher Call, magnificent book. I had heard how many of the pilots in the Luftwaffe, especially those of higher rank despised Goering and the higher command. It is a must read . Excellent interview with Franz here: http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/articles/pilots/stigler/stigler.htm 1
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) Here's a really good site. I really liked Rodel. Such a nice fellow. Edu Neumann too although you don't really get to know him. Goring was a fat ass kissing psychopath as far as I'm concerned. http://www.valorstudios.com/franz-stigler-photos-and-video.htm Edited December 1, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich

SCG_Neun Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Well, this is good news for sure. Thanks for the update Rich.

Cybermat47 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Here's hoping they use actual planes like in Battle of Britain and Valkyrie. With CGI, things can go a bit... odd Isn't there a P-51 that does a 180-degree turn with it's rudder in Red Tails?

Something like that..This movie Fortress is a very low buget film but I very much like it's CGI 109s and the flow of the battle. The markings and camouflage are excellent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y83rT19jFA Edited December 2, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich
-MG-Cacti4-6 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I tell you what, if they would remake 12 oclock high, i would be all over that...still a great movie to this day

There are very few people it seems who know how to make War films anymore though. You usually just sit there and roll you eyes through the ones they make now. Every person is usually a macho dick head if you know what I mean and every enemy has fangs hanging from his mouth. These movies are made for people with 1 digit iq's 3
Feathered_IV Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Tom Stoppard is a more encouraging prospect than George Lucas. Thirty years is a long time between decent aviation films.
Cybermat47 Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Every person is usually a macho dick head I know what you mean. Although the Germans don't seem to do that sort of thing. Generation War looks really good, and The Red Baron, while 99% bulls**t, at least gave a balanced view of both sides.

You usually just sit there and roll you eyes through the ones they make now. Every person is usually a macho dick head if you know what I mean and every enemy has fangs hanging from his mouth. These movies are made for people with 1 digit IQ's I sorta agree, but honestly I think, that war movies have always been extremely difficult to do well. I think the feeling, that war movies used to be better is a misconception stemming from the fact, that we have filtered out most of the really bad old war movies (and some of them were in fact really, really bad) I personally have a very hard time coming up with a list of just my favourite 10 or 20 war movies, without getting to some, which aren't even what I'd call "good movies". Some of the best movies, I have ever seen are war movies (Das Boot, Apocalypse Now, Der Untergang, Full Metal Jacket, Go And See etc.) but after the first couple of handfulls, there comes a point, where there is a gaping chasm between the "really good war movies" and the "passable war movies".

The film Lore is excellent and guess what, it was made by a woman and it's one of the best War films I've ever seen. She actually cared about what she was doing. Panzerlang Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Just ordered the book 'A Higher Call' from Amazon and scored a copy of the movie 'Lore' too. Thanks for the headsup. 1

She actually cared about what she was doing. I have not seen it (actually, I don't think I've even heard of it before) But based on the comments here, I think I'll give it a try. I still think nothing can top "Go And See", when it comes to depicting the brutalizing influence of war on children, but we'll see. Edited December 2, 2013 by Finkeren
