II./JG1_Kadin Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Preliminary testing shows that the Dedicated Server does not bog down when the tic delay reaches above 20. Further testing is needed to be sure but If so, would a consideration to raise the threshold so the message " Multiplay server is overloaded:...." does not show up as often? Unless of course, I got the story totally wrong and the recent optimization have nothing to do with the tic delay...
II./JG1_Kadin Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) Just Reporting: The "Multiplay Server is overload: Plane erratic behavior..." message was plastered all over the screen yesterday. However the fps counter was 59-60 (v-synch on) constantly, AI behaved properly, did their task and were smooth. Finally I used "H" to remove reports on screen and you could not tell that the Server was screaming murder!! Amazing job guys, I wish I knew more to truly appreciate what you have done Edited December 23, 2016 by II./JG1_Kadin
No601_Prangster Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Tick delay has nothing to do with graphics or FPS. It's a measure of CPU load on the server. To raise it you just need a faster CPU.
II./JG1_Kadin Posted December 23, 2016 Author Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) So two questions arise: 1. Same setup before the recent update was causing issues with AI and of course clients' FPS 2. When checking server CPU usage prior to update and now it is around 10-23%, RAM about 4 GB and no SSD activity. The CPU is an Intel i7 3820 @ 3.60 Not that I am complaining by any means, this all an excellent outcome. I am just trying to understand things better for future designs. No601_Prangster Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 The current DServer only uses a single process, hence the low usage on your i7.
