6./ZG26_Loke Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Really love the Ju-52 and is getting the hang of it, taxiing and take-off, lovely bird. But where is the door? A bit disappointed that it has not been modelled, or am I the only one who received a Monday model? The bomb-door key could have been used to open it, when it's time to drop the paratroopers or containers.
Dakpilot Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 On the DC-4 we removed the door on flights when doing drops, perhaps the Ju-52 was the same Cheers Dakpilot
216th_Peterla Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 If you don't select any cargo the door appears. With the x3 cargo options the door is removed. Regards
E69_Cananas Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 (edited) If you select cargo paradrop or paratroops, the door is removed. If you selectvcargo nothing or cargo delivery, the will be there. Edited December 22, 2016 by Cananas
6./ZG26_Loke Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 Hmmm, ty. Still think it should have been animated.
Dakpilot Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Hmmm, ty. Still think it should have been animiated The door hinges outward, it would be impossible to open in flight, this is why we removed it (as designed) on the DC-4 even a Cessna 172 gets its door removed for parachuting Cheers Dakpilot 1
6./ZG26_Loke Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 They did have versions where the door was an inside slide door. . But maybe you are right about that it was taken off on several of them. Difficult to see on the pictures you find. Have a hard time beliving they would fly that far like Crete without a door. It will also cost extra use of fuel. Will try to find out more about it.
Dakpilot Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Last pic you can see where the hinges were attached with door removed With door removed in DC-4 it was indeed draughty and noisy, in fact the rear half of the cargo door was removed I flew many miles in that state although approved some did not like doing it (DC-3 as well) due to extra stress on airframe (this of course not in WWII) Cheers Dakpilot
=SqSq=Sulaco Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Personally I'd like it if the cabin door was open so I could look back and see all of the troops/cargo. First thing I did was try to open it but no luck No biggy, the aircraft is excellent and I'm just happy to have the option to fly it.

Then they need to model the back compartment which would take a lot of extra time
