College Football. Or football as the Americans understand it to be.  In the college football season, the traditional school rivalries play the last game of the regular season.  In the state of Alabama, this is the Iron Bowl (just the name of the match up)  between the University of Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn University Tigers.  Perhaps one of the greatest college football rivalries.

 

Since 2009, the Winner of the Iron Bowl has gone on to win the BCS Championship (National College Football Champs).  Since there is not a playoff in college football, the polls (a collection of computer, sports writers, and coaches rankings) determine the #1 and #2 who play for the championship.  Auburn and Alabama (but mostly Alabama) have dominated the polls for the last 5 years.

 

Tonight, #4 ranked Auburn defeated #1 ranked Alabama, allowing Auburn to play for the conference championship which could improve Auburn's polls enough to get to play for the National Championship.  Auburn's "battle cry" is "War Eagle".

 

TL:DR - My team beat our greatest rivals tonight.
