Game will not launch since update. Help!

First time trying to launch the game since the update and it will not open. First I got the message about it not being able to run in full screen so I clicked ok, then tried again and now all it does is make the screen go black and then a message comes up saying "il-2 sturmovik has stopped working" windows tries to find a solution but it doesn't work.

 

Things I have tried so far:

 

Uninstalling geforce experience

Running the program as admin

Launching the game in windowed mode (not sure i'm doing this properly? added -window to the shortcut target?)

Launching the game from steam

Disabling driver telemetry (could not find any to disable)

Checking my directx version

 

none of this has worked so I am at a loss as to what to try next, any help would be much appreciated. My system isn't the newest but it worked perfectly fine before the update.

 

System is:

windows 10

i3-4130

GTX 650

I have not had this exact issue (I didn't get an error message at all, just a crash).

 

I fixed it by resetting all Nvidia Control Panel settings to default for Il2, and *disabling steam overlay*

 

I am still having issues with game crashes, but that fixed the game launch issues.

Where do I find the Nvidia Control panel settings for specific games? I tried disabling steam overlay but that hasn't helped

Thanks Dakpilot, restored to default settings but still hasn't fixed the problem

Full re-install seems to have fixed the problem, getting a few fps issues but at least i can play again

Well I resisted updating till some of the issues I read about were sorted. I went ahead tonight and updated the game via the launcher. The game does not run. After hitting play it goes to the first screen indicating the game is loading. It soon goes back to the desktop where I have no mouse control till I go to task manager and shut the game down (it says its running). Turned off full screen no difference, deleted the game profile from Nvidia Inspector, no difference, checked Win 7, it says SP1, no error messages of any kind.

 

 

 

PC is:

 

I7 3820@ 4.3

 

GTX 970 FTW with 344.60 drivers Nvidia Experience not installed (Old driver I know but it's Dx11 and has been fastest for me)

 

Win 7 64 bit

 

 

 

Any direction or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Did you check if Dx11 is installed on your machine? (Not the graphics driver) Also do you have got the windows update that was mentioned in the patchnotes?

Same here. Most recent Nvidia driver did the trick. I was using 344.60 which was quite old but as they say if it isn't broken don't fix it. If anyone is having the problem we had, the updated driver should solve it. The update is absolutely amazing.
