LLv24_Zami Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 After turning off my terrain file I noticed stuttering. BUT if I turned it back on the stutters are gone. Zami, I think this might make it work for you - (it makes or breaks it for me). Copy and paste the contents into the terrain.cfg file so it looks exactly like below and test. the file is within the graphics folder in \1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics I tested it and unfortunately it doesn`t work for me. There is no terrain.cfg file in BoS anymore, it was moved by devs some time ago. I made one for this test but no difference. But thanks for the effort
mga Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I have tested with other profiles than 0x080240F5, and find others that "work" in the sense that they double the FPS but they all display the same problem. The terrain and the map flicker. Actually, when I start a mission and then try to display the map, I can still see both the airplane flying and the map (they flicker alternatively and they appear superimposed). I have tried changing a lot of the options in NVidia Inspector, nothing made any difference. I also tried disabling and enabling graphical options from the game, still nothing makes a difference. I discovered that the "enable multiple gpu" option (from the game options) doesn't do anything at all, I get double the fps or not, depending only on which profile I chose using the inspector. The worst profile I found to be is in fact 0x080240F5, because while using it, the right side menu displays a lot of artifacts as well. Others that work are: 0x000010F5, 0x000011F1, 0x000040F5, 0x000115FD, 0x020040F5, 0x080140F5, 0x0A0040F5, 0x0A0110F5, 0x0A0140F5, 0x2A0117F1, 0x2A0117F5. I didn't quite test them all because the behavior is very consistent. SLI isn't working or it does, but the terrain and the map are flickering like crazy. I installed the latest drivers tonight, just before starting the tests.
mga Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 I've just tried the SLI again on 2.007 with the same results as above.
Hopper64 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 New Nvidia 378.66 drivers are out, but I don't see anywhere in the release notes about an updated SLI profile for BOS. Have not tried them yet.
kileab Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 From the release notes : Application SLI Profiles No SLI profiles were added with this version.
Hopper64 Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) There is also a section on SLI profile updates too. BOS is not listed: Application SLI Profiles SLIAdded or updated the following SLI profiles:•Battlefield 1•Deus Ex: Breach Standalone - added DirectX 11 profile•Diablo III - added DirectX 11 profile•Dreadnought(2016) - added DirectX 11 profile Etc... A BOS profile exists, it just needs to be updated for DX11 I think. Edited February 14, 2017 by Hopper64
kileab Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) This is the general SLI Profiles added by the 378 driver serie for now. Can the OP or a moderator modify the topic title and add a "NOT" please ? SLI is NOT working Edited February 14, 2017 by -IRRE-Biluf
GrendelsDad Posted February 14, 2017 Author Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) I am still getting a decent frame increase with no artifacts...Slight blinking of grass on winter maps sometimes...I run the stalker bits for dx9 and dx10/11 and run AFR2. Definite increase in FPS testing on runway and after takeoff. I do run with SLI on focus monitor mode...at 8000x2160 which seems as wide as I can go without getting a Swap chain error? But my point is it runs much better with these settings. Not working 100% but a great FPS boost none the less. i will share my settings after work is done. GrendelsDad Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 (edited) I am not seeing any artifacts at all...first GPU is 90-100% and second is 50-80% usage...so not perfect...also i stated AFR2(wrong)...i am using AFR only as the other gives tile artifacts on ground. Also running in windowed mode I am spanning 3 monitors so not sure if full screen effects SLI negatively? No AA used here either as I am running at over 4K resolution...8000x2160. Maybe AA is causing the artifacting with SLI as I do recall that being a problem in other games in the past. EDIT: artifacts on snow maps are present...summer and autumn maps seem fine. I have been playing summer only for a while so I didn't notice Edited February 15, 2017 by II./ZG1_GrendelsDad
Urra Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Hopefully you can read these... Thanks for sharing these. The AFR1 seems important.
LLv24_Zami Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 I got increase in fps and no artifacts but there is stuttering. So waiting continues for a proper driver from Nvidia... But thanks for sharing your settings GrendelsDad!
GrendelsDad Posted February 15, 2017 Author Posted February 15, 2017 No problem. Maybe I am just used to the stutters.

Also running in windowed mode I am spanning 3 monitors so not sure if full screen effects SLI negatively? I am not 100% sure, but SLI doesn't usually work unless the game is in full screen exclusive mode rather than windowed or full screen borderless. On my computer the second card working has never been an indication of SLI working. The only way to see is to have an actual fps increase, which I do with certain DX11 profiles, but the whole terrain flickers. That being said, I will try your settings tonight. LLv24_Zami Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) No problem. Maybe I am just used to the stutters.Maybe you just don't have stutters like me. I have very noticiable stuttering especially zooming in or out, or plane flyby.Sometimes sudden head moovements cause pauses. Generally it works but something is missing with texture loading. mga Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Same thing here, AFR2 makes the terrain flicker and AFR produces stuttering.
Urra Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 It's working for me slightly better than before update. Using it now.
mga Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 It's working for me slightly better than before update. Using it now. So no more stuttering with AFR1?
mga Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Same here, works much better, but there is still some terrain flicker.
Urra Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Mga, I posted my setting here if you want to look at other options. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/27941-game-version-2008-discussion-he-111-h-16-fw-190-5-la-5-m-82f/?p=448768
Hopper64 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Still no SLI with the latest 378.78 Nvidia drivers. Second card max speed about 400 MHz less than first card.
ACG_Invictus Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Mga, I posted my setting here if you want to look at other options. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/27941-game-version-2008-discussion-he-111-h-16-fw-190-5-la-5-m-82f/?p=448768 These worked big time for me. Got well over 180fps with this and both cards showing activity in Nvidia Inspector monitor. It worked so well I ended up having to turn back on vsync because of tearing.
mga Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Still no luck for me. I did notice however I have a slightly older driver version than you. I have 378.49 whereas you have 378.66. Maybe I will try updating my driver sometime in the future.
Bombzey Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I was wondering if anyone, who has already gone through the head scratching, has got a Nvidia settings profile for IL-2 BoS,BoM to match 2x GTX1070 running SLI and using a 2560x1440 monitor? I'm not sure if I should use 2x DSR or 4x DSR? Or AFR1 or AFR2? Or even is there a profile for optimum settings that I could scale down as required? I normally love to tinker with the settings but time is against me atm Any help would be grateful
GrendelsDad Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 AFR 2 gives nice boost but does cause ground tiles to flash every now and again on some maps...other than that its 60+ fps everywhere even with 8 HE11s fighting in front of me. I have settled on a res of 7680x1440 so I am sure your resolution and specs will kill. I think the fix lies in Nvidia's hands not to make a profile SLI profile for the game. Maybe we should all send them email letting them know we need a fix? I am running 2 980ti's in SLI fyi. I noticed the textures do not flicker when I am using focus mode in the SLI settings and not Nvidia surround mode? Also flickering seems less in windowed mode and seems to increase in full screen. None of this is science just me trying to get me settings right with triple screens but hopefully it helps a bit.
Hopper64 Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) New Nvidia driver is out today, but don't have time to test it. Nothing in the release notes on an updated SLI profile. Edited March 20, 2017 by Hopper64
mga Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 I just gave up and I sold my second card. Most of the games I am playing do not support SLI. IL2 was one of the very few. I will just wait for the 1080 ti and that's that.
LLv24_Zami Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I recommend everyone to get rid of SLI. I got my gtx 1080 today and it`s so smooth in every situation with ultra settings using 2xAA and 2xsparse grid supersampling. Absolutely joy to play and game looks great!

Sketchy Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 New Nvidia drivers out today. Still no SLI support. Any way the devs or someone else inside 1cgs could help us out, please?
FuriousMeow Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) It's all on nVidia, you have to bug their customer support. I did that to get SLI support for DX9 but I have two 780Tis which doesn't work in single card mode either, and don't have a lot of time, so if you want SLI support you contact nVidia's customer support through their portal and open a ticket. Do not just post on their forums, you must contact support through their portal. Edited April 7, 2017 by FuriousMeow
Sketchy Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Thanks for the tip FuriuosMeow. I contacted Nvidia through the support chat. Came to a guy that didn't know a lot about SLI at all. But he forwarded my request to the drivers team. Hopefully my request add up. Anyways, I really think hardware support for something as basic as SLI should be handled by game developers and nvidia, and not left to the customers.
Nelly2408 Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Hello, is working SLI in IL-2 sturmovik? Bring 2x GTX 1080 ti with SLI in VR mode more fps? Nelly2408
