I had the same issue until I discovered what caused this behavior, why the mission scripts didn't worked. I used to give my wingman orders prior to Take Off. The result was, that I never could finish any mission. I tried it in normal mode and I recognized that there was no waypoint marker.

But I discovered, that when I simply take off straight away without giving my wingman any orders, the missions are working fine. Soon after take off I see the waypoint marker in normal mode.

Knowing this, I switched back to difficult mode without having any issues anymore.

You can pass the waypoints at a lower altitude (because the control zone of each waypoint is a sphere with a radius of 1 km near the airfield and 3 km on route) but you've to gain height 200 m once right after take-off to the entire system of triggers in the mission begin to work

Thanks B6. This is new information for me. Does this mean your missions do not detect a take-off if the aircraft does not reach higher than 200m (after take off)? Does this also apply to all our missions (if we use the "report" or "event" triggers in the take-off MCU)?

Yes, this mean that all missions (using "report" or "event" triggers in the take-off MCU) don't detect a take-off if the aircraft doesn't reach higher than 200m after take off. I recommend to write about it in the briefings and I'll do it in the my next campaigns.

I've just finished the campaign (Normal difficulty, all labels) and loved every minute of it.

Total "flying time" of 5h 08m, 13 victories, two missions repeated (one "spin in" trying to out-turn a  Rata, and once shot down).

May there be many more campaigns on your "to do" list!

I really don't think so. It never happened to me!

 

But the addictive thing about this "genre" (or obsession or way of life, etc, etc) is that it just generates stories and amazing moments and conversations that start: "You'll never believe what happened..."

While I definitely appreciate that the devs are trying to expand the Singleplayer experience of the game, I bought the campaign after all, I have to say that I am not entirely satisfied with the product. Before I go into further detail, let me say this: I have been playing DCS for a very long time now and I am an avid supporter of the excellent campaigns that are provided there (also mostly by dedicated mission builders btw.). I am therefore used to a certain level of quality and content when it comes to SP campaigns. I understand that BlackSix is not a dedicated campaign guy and that this was only one of his contributions to the sim, but that said: I also pay 10$ for the campaigns in DCS and I have to say that the complexity of the missions, the variety of tasks, the amount of material that is used as documentary, storytelling and presentation and the crazy amount of custom voice-overs (which are or at least were possible in BoS) just blow this campaign out of the water tenfold. The concept of the missions is definitely good and there is a fair amount of variety in the tasks and kind of gameplay the missionstructure tries to create, but when all is said and done, it feels like a slightly orchestrated standard-campaign with the bonus of a few hot spots with tracer fire. Custom voice-overs, storytelling in the mission to change the course of the experience and a bit more material on the side about what happened during the time, the actual battles that took place and maybe something visual (maybe old pictures) would do wonders for this campaign. I do not know that is missing this is due to BlackSix having other dev-duties, the limitations of the engine or other reasons I do not want to speculate upon. The experience I got with the campaign is definitely better than everything we have seen so far in terms of Singeplayer from the developer side, but to be honest: We have not seen very much in the first place, so that was not that difficult. Not trying to be a hater here, but I would strongly suggest motivating capable dedicated mission builders to join in on the fray with a good cooperation in the payment model or actually getting someone on the team who has the time and ressources to further develop the developer-created campaigns.

Maybe I'm simply spoiled by DCS's superb content in the campaign-department but as it stands I cannot justify to purchase another campaign of this format when there are quite a few DCS campaigns still out there that I want to play. Just some honest thoughts and my experience.

 

Edit: For those who wanna know what I mean - there are quite a few trailers, playthroughs and all that jazz available on youtube. Good examples of what I mean are "Operation Piercing Fury" - by Ranger79 and "The Enemy Within" by Baltic Dragon, both campaigns for the A-10C. The official campaign for the Mirage 2000C module, which has also been crafted by Baltic Dragon is another example.

Yes, you are probably spoiled by the excellent product DCS presents and the outstanding campaigns DCS has. But it's like comparing a Warthog joystick to a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. Both get the job done but there is no real contest. Still, I appreciate "Ten Days of Autumn' and ten dollars to support the team is fine with me.

Is it necessary to pass through all way points on the way home (after action) to complete the missions? I have been because I didn't want to lose the kills but I would prefer not to.

Hi guys, do you score all the air to air kills? I having some issues with only the flight time recorded and no air to air kills, even if I know I got some aircrafts.

Edit: yes, it scores them. Maybe an IA touched the a/c before me.

After action you can fly directly to the airfield but be careful in the reconnaissance missions like 5 or 10 where you've to pass the entire route.

"ten days Autumn" great job thanks so much. I'm not a multiplay player and have much fun to play the campaign. As other players I do hope there will be more of your campaigns. I'm on mission 10.

Question regarding the map...With 2.006 update the mouse doesn't move from a screen to another one unless to configure startup-cfg but I'd like to have the map which is into the game on a second screen?

For instance each mission of 10 days autumn has his own map showing all waypoints...is it possible to have it on my second screen?

If you have another "device" (a laptop or an ipad, etc), you could always have Curious Gambler's great online map: http://il2missionplanner.com/

 

It lets you plan routes, bearings timing legs, etc.

 

If and when the game allows mods in the future, I hope a boffin will work out a way of opening a browser window in the the game GUI specifically for this!

Yes, and I can't change this rule for the take-off condition

 

hmmmm..... mission 7, the russians are coming: Flew it two times now, painstakingly concentrated on meeting the way points, landed safely, even shot down 2 I16s - however, both times, I got a "mission failed" in the end.

Am I missing some secret target?

Thanks for asking this question ..I flew the mission 4 or 5 times in a row,and thought I did everything right once or twice, including getting several kills & all the way points & landing in one piece, but I must have under-flown or missed the first one in my hurry to under-fly the incoming Migs & get at the Pe-2s...Will try again!

( It is hard to imagine that my squadron commander would require me to continue my reconnaissance mission so strictly afer expending all my ammo defending my own airfield....I think just getting back down alive should have been more than enough for a "job well done!")

Im through and I loved it. Every single mission. Escorted the Jus all the way in the last one. Felt wrong to leave them at waypoint#4.

Maybe not related to the campaign, but I can't get my flight to attack ground targets with mg's and cannons. I tried "attack nearest ground", "patrol for ground targets", "follow my example", "continue mission" but they just fly around never attacking. Anyone got them to attack a train or artillery piece and if, which commands did you give?

From my experience, the only, that works, is 'attack nearest ground target'. But they will first start circling, as there seems to be a fixed procedure for ground attacks, which AI follows strictly. So they start circling, obviously searching for a target and then attack the target. But they only attack one target and then, again, follow you, and they all attack the same target, not as it would make sense, each aircraft another target. And last but not least, they quite often decide to attack any target in the area, instead of the target, that was your duty.

I will say this... I think scripted campaigns like this show a unique and immersive side to this sim that folks who don't try them out really are missing out.

2) Fighters from I&II./JG 52 had no ventral bomb racks. I wanted to show the problem: they need to attack ground targets but they can not use bombs. There was fighter-bombers Bf 109 E-7/B from II.(Sch)/LG 2, they could do it.

I finished 10DoA recently. It was a relief to make that final landing with no enemy contacts on the trip - though I don't think I'll be so lucky all the time!

I've never done any bomber's campaigns and I'm not sure that I understand their specificity and can tell an interesting story

For an example, I've read about one hundred memoirs of the Soviet fighter and attack planes pilots and only three books about pilots of bombers.
